What kind of trade offs?
Are you developing a list of differences?
Is the echo integration? And if yes, is it possible to have a setup using something like askAlexa?

Echo integration isn’t official(although they’ve claimed they are working on it for Months, check out their FB page damn near every visitor post asks when it’s coming) , you can get it working, but it’s not plug an play:

AFAIK (and I try to keep up, but no guarantees) there is nothing like the askAlexa for ST being developed(at least publicly) for Vera.
Echo is one of the trade-offs. However, I believe that the chance of Vera Plus gaining official Echo integration (50%) is much higher than ST gaining local control (0%).
HomeSeer allows you to write your own code and have it run locally? What language?

i for one think he does… because the questions go un-answered ;). however, if i were in his position i would expect my minions (i got in trouble at work for calling subordinates minions once… DBags) to take care of answering the questions.
