Vision & Enerwave Dual Relay Micro Switches and Edge Migration APRIL 2023

Hey all!

So I’d been fearing the switch of platforms and moving on from Groovy… and now I’m back to not being able to figure things out.

I had (now long ago) gotten two different micro switches working, one from Vision and one from Enerwave working in my house. I remember both being frustrating to navigate at the time, having to setup virtual switches or some type of controllers so have each individual relay work properly.

Now, since my Smartthings Hub finally updated a few months ago - I finally have time to dive into how to get these devices working again.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get switches like this up and running again? I’ve been reading different posts on edge drivers and vEdge virtual switches, but I’m hoping someone out there has overcome this already and could kindly walk me through the steps.

While I’m not completely incompetent at this stuff, I’m a novice for sure. I’ve had things working seamlessly for the last 7 years and haven’t needed to dive back into the challenging aspects of setting up my smart home in a long while. Glad to provide more information as needed.

Thanks for any insights!

Has your device already been migrated to an Edge driver and if so, which one.

I see one Enerwave device listed in the fingerprints for the stock ST Z-Wave switch Edge driver so if your device matched that, it would use that driver unless you install a community developed driver.

Need a little more info to point you in the right direction.

Honestly, I’m not sure - my assumption is probably. Is that something I would have had to do manually? Also - how would I check to confirm?

About the Enerwave Dual Relay, it works very well with Mariano’s driver. Download the ‘Z-Wave Switch and Child Mc’ from the Channel: Mariano Shared Beta Driver.

You will need to uninstall and exclude your Enerwave relay. When you delete your relay it will automatically go into Z-Wave exclusion mode. To exclude the relay, tap the reset button on the front of the relay three times. To add it back in to the app I believe you tap the relay button once and then tap scan nearby devices.

Important: If you currently have routines that you want to preserve, make sure you place a substitution device in the routine in place of the relay devices in your current routines. If you do not, these routines will be deleted when you delete the relay.

Also, under settings you will see the following screen:

You will want to toggle on the switch “Create Single Device for Switch1” to make a second controllable switch for the relay. Then you can rename the two switches and use them as independent devices.

Hope this helps

This was hugely helpful, thank you. The manual for the Enerwave ZWN-RSM2-PLUS can be found here - it says to actuate the switch five times in 1.5 seconds for inclusion/exclusion. That didn’t work for me. I ended up resetting the controller (toothpick used to actuate the recessed program button, hold it for 10 seconds), then adding it by entering inclusion mode and pushing the program button once. My SmartThings app claimed that the addition failed, but Alexa notified me it’d been added and then the device popped up on my SmartThings “devices” screen.

When I build routines, I can see the main switch and the second switch, both renamed by me. I also see a third device that’s the second switch, same custom name as the main switch, but with “Switch1” in subtext. Anyone else seeing this?

I’m not seeing a third device. In the settings you have the ability to toggle the slider switch “on” next to the option “Create Single Device for Switch1”. I have mine set to “on”
