Updates to Google Integration

I know you mentioned that you don’t have any locks in the scene, which was going to be my guess as to what’s causing your issue. Since that was my only idea, would you mind posting a screenshot of the scene itself?

@iridris, Just an an example, one of the many Scenes not listed in the Google Home app.

Indeed I can control it as the Home’s owner (who connected SmartThings to the Home), but not as a member of the Home.

Just got 30 duplicate devices in Google Home now. Found this thread…are we really actually 4 months into this issue being unsolved, or is there a solution buried somewhere in these 282 replies that I’ve missed??

You’ve not missed a solution I’m afraid, but we have at least had recognition of the problem and a “we’re working on it” comment. No dates though.

Duplicate devices come from having multiple accounts which both link ST to Google home. Suggest looking at phones for other household members and unlinking their connection, that should remove the duplicates.
(Unless they are duplicates from direct integrations to GH from another hub/platform, and a simultaneous integration through ST to GH)

So did everyone just give up and give in to the fact that we can no longer choose what devices google and alexa an see? seriously?
This is beyond unacceptable, We paid for all of this stuff and we should be dictating who can see what not google or smartthings.
There are a million reasons to why this function is a must , a few would be, privacy , accidental voice control of devices that we do not want to be controlled, and the list goes on.
How do we start some poll or something to get smartthings attention that this is not ok ?

Nope ST are working on it as a high priority feature, it’s just complicated to do so will take some time. How long I’m not sure, but gut feel says another week or two

Could be worse. As a mainly Z-wave device home, I have noticed that anytime the Google Home app updates; I lose pieces of all the routines that I have made using the Google home app that integrate with any third party linked services. So Smartthings is actually pretty stable; all things considered. Turn off the first floor (Smartthings virtual switch) all the devices that are Z-wave and Zigbee work properly but all the WiFi based plugs (like the brown lamp) are now reset to “Don’t change”. Happens every time there is an update to the Google home app. If I didn’t have to use it for voice commands I wouldn’t use it at all. Just hope that they come out with a Google Hub. They bought Revolv so we can hope.

So quoting myself… sigh.

For what it’s worth, the Alexa integration guesses at the device type also. But it allows me to change the type.

I’ve got a lot of smart switches and dimmers that control lights. I’ve been able to change all of them to type Light in the Alexa app

I can change device type at google home.

Ah. I wasn’t able to find that.

It’s all moot for me. I don’t have any Google Home devices except one that’s in a box somewhere. Alexa is my chosen eavesdropping machine even though I’m otherwise in thrall to the Google machine.

Is there no way to choose which devices we sync to google in the new integration? This is ridiculous, I don’t want the lights in my kids rooms to accidentally be turned on in the middle of the night when a guest says “turn on all the lights”!

EDIT: I just saw that this is being worked on, please hurry! Thanks!

Who said it’s being worked on? Who’s working on it?

@cjcharles said that ST is working on it. Something like a week or 2 to get it done. Hopefully soon, meanwhile i have completely removed google home from having any access to my switches ( over 80 smart devices ) since i do not agree at all with ST giving blanket access to Google.
anyway hopefully ST will correct their mistake and roll this back. If not , hubitat here we come.

I’m not confident on a 2 week implementation, that information has not been given, but ST staff have said they are working on the implementation several times (as a priority), and it’s my estimate that the work is likely to take about 2 weeks (based on other implementations I’ve seen)…

“significant amount of work” doesn’t sound like a 2 week fix. I assume we’ll never see a target date given, but they do appear to be planning a Beta at some point.

Where/how can I find all the scenes that are exposed to Google Home? I can’t for the life of me find them in the Google home app. The directions someone provided above didn’t work for me.

Unfortunately Google has chosen not to show them anymore. They can still be activated via voice though.

I can see them by going to the account menu > assistant settings > home control.

Looks like that’s just for iOS?! I have android and don’t see it. On my iPad Home App I can see the scenes! Interesting…
