TriSensor 8

My Aeotec TriSensor 8 in the mail today. The history is showing that it looks like it’s taking a lux reading every hour. Is there any way to get it to do it more often?

What driver are you using? If the stock driver, have you tried the Aeotec supplied one?

Thank you! I installed the Aeotec driver and now I can set the time interval of the lux.

How do I access the other parameters listed here:

(I do a small amount of programming for my job, so I don’t find all of this intimidating.)

As I am experimenting with the settings in the Smartthings app that the new driver supplies, it doesn’t seem like some of the changes happen immediately, but take an hour or so.

If they aren’t exposed by the Aeotec driver, you would either have to modify their driver (and I doubt they will supply their source code) or create your own.

Most battery operated devices like sensor are so-called “sleepy” devices. This means they only wake up periodically to communicate with the hub in the absence of any events. So, changes you apply in the app get queued up on the hub and only transmitted with the device wakes up. You can generally wake up a device like a contact sensor by causing it to go from closed to open, for example.

A few months back, I had some success persuading Aeotec to “fix” an issue in their MultiSensor 6 driver (I have four of them in two locations). You could try putting in a request with their support people and see what happens!
