Unless you have some family members with Echos that aren’t going to take advantage.
What do you mean, aren’t these supported in ST using the custom DH and SmartApp?
I was referring to your comment that you can only use that code once. I meant if you have some family or friends with Echos that aren’t going to take advantage of this promo code you can just ask them to order them for you and give them the cash.
Ah, ok. I thought maybe I misunderstood which one worked with ST.
Hi Dave, trying figuring this out, but am stumped.
Basically stumped at Section 6, step 4b of install instructions
Have a HS105 TP plug. Followed the steps to install the groovy files as outlined
- ServiceMgr: TPLink Cloud Connect V2,
- DeviceHdlr: (Cloud) TP-Link Plug-Switch).
They installed fine… or so I believe. Both the MySmartAp and MyDeviceHandler tabs on ST show “Published”.
I proceeded to iOS phone to run the service manager. Accessed the “TP-Link Device Service Manager” no problem (confirming that MySmartApp was installed correctly). But when I hit next (step 4b) I get a blank page. None of my TPLink HS105’s show. Hitting “done” only gives error msg “Error saving unnamed page” which I presume is right as I have nothing to select/do.
Live Logging shows:
9:31:17 AM: error java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot get property ‘id’ on null object @line 229 (getToken)
9:29:58 AM: info Waiting on events…
Thanks
Not previously encountered. It is probably indicative of one the steps before 6b. Make sure your TP-Link Login is valid and that you have selected initial install option. This is required before adding devices (It gets the required tokens for the cloud to work - therefore the error in getToken).

Hey Dave! Thanks again for all your hard work on the integration. Just wondering when you will be fixing the status update hanging in the new connect app. I have my plugs properly installed, but as someone eluded to above, the new app shows the plugs, but doesn’t update status and you cannot turn them off or on. Any help would be great
That is a smartthings issue. There is nothing I can do on this. If someone knows of anything, please provide some guidance.
Dave
Hi Dave - just finished looking at entire thread for the answer - whew! you are busy!
The issue - I have 1 LB100 bulb and 4 HS100 smartplugs. Everything has been running great. All of a suddent, just the plugs come up with “Comm Error” in smartthings app. The lamp works fine in Smartthings. Everything works fine from the Kasa app, so I have manual backup for the plugs. The error code is -02571 and the log shows:
b97cccb1-66f8-4fcb-ac61-5b9ba693abd1 2:02:14 PM: error checkError residual: [error_code:-20571, msg:Device is offline]
b97cccb1-66f8-4fcb-ac61-5b9ba693abd1 2:02:14 PM: error checkError: No auto-correctable errors or exceeded Token request count.
Obviously, the item is not offline, because they work fine from Kasa.
what do I need to do to get it going again - sounds like an authorization from Kasa issue.

I would check the Kasa App and see if any of the devices are in local only mode. This is on the setting page for the individual plugs. Also, how many times are you polling the plugs. That could also cause a problem.
PS - Just tested mine (from DC to Dallas). Works OK. If you continue to have problems, let me know. I will check code when I return home (and can test).
Dave
all are set for remote control. I had nothing set for refresh (when it was working). I set it to 30 min to see if that would help. no. Again, all was working super for months…one day, just the plugs go “comm error”. All devices work from Kasa.

Now all tp-link are in comm error, including the LB100 bulb. All are still connected and work with Kasa but not smartthings. The bulb used to also work with Alexa, now it doesn’t. Alexa says OK, but nothing happens.

One last thing. Go to the Smart Ap and select “update Token” with logging turned on. Make sure you put in your current Kasa Password.
Dave
If that does not work, try the worst case. Uninstall and reinstall your devices.
Just checked my devices and all appear OK (turned on/off and monitored log).
I just did update token. nothing appeared to happen. nothing on live logging. Is there a way to reconnect with smartthings? Again, all devices are connected via Kasa and all work from Kasa app. Can I simply get them to reconnect with smartthings? I have 5 devices with comm error, one being a wired switch. I tried removing a device, but since it has no comm it will not remove.
What version of the SmartThing App are you using? New or Classic? That is my last guess!!!
Classic.
So, how to I just start all over? Delete the smartapp and the service mgr? Then add them back and add the devices back? Or will the devices even go away if I delete them, since they are not communicating?

Well, I am stuck again. Trying to remove all tp-link devices and Tp-link connect related software. I removed one item and tried to reinstall - that did not work so I tried to remove it again and got message “Cannot invoke method removeChildDevice() on null object” So, I moved to delete the smart app and cannot do that either - I get the message “This SmartApp can’t be deleted at this time because it is installed by one or more users”.
So how do I get out of all this? I plan to replace all my tp-link devices with zwave or zigbee and move on! It was nice while it worked, but I am not technical enough to fix it when it breaks!

Make sure they are not in use by other smartapps, such as Google, Amazon Alexa, etc…
Followup - I put in a support request and Smartthings support deleted the device for me. I was then able to delete the other tp-link devices. Now I am awaiting support to help me delete the SmartApp. I have not figured out how to “unpublish” it.

Ah, that was easy - just remove the smartapp from the mobile device, then it removes from IDE without an error. I think I am clean!
