Hey all, I recently installed “BD LAN Drivers” from GitHub ( SmartThings Channel and Drivers on my Hub to try to achieve local access/control of my TP-Link switches and plugs…
I already had the TP-LINK service connected (and my devices were all recognized by ST from that link) and my devices are all operating off the “Cloud” (not LOCAL).
I had no issues installing the BD LAN edge drivers and see they are installed on my hub, but my existing TP-LINK devices have not updated to “LOCAL” operated.
Does anyone know if I either need to disconnect/delete the existing TP-LINK (linked to TP-LINK SERVICE) and then reconnect for the devices to move to ‘Local’ operation ?? or possibly how to force the existing devices to move to ‘Local’ operation ??? Any advice is appreciated!!!
Edge drivers do not switch your current cloud integrated devices to local, the cloud integration is not affected. What Edge drivers do is discover devices in the network and create new local devices in SmartThings. Scan for new devices and check if you have new devices added.
Mind the driver is outdated and may not work with recent devices or firmwares:
This is EXACTLY what happened as I gave the system/hub time to ‘find’ my TP devices. It duplicated the existing devices with a “-1” appended to the name. It ‘found’ two of my 4 outlets, so I’ll have to dig into those, but all is looking pretty good so far! Thanks for your input, @mocelet !
