We will be rolling out Samsung SmartThings Hub firmware version 0.43.05 to Samsung Connect Home and SmartThings WiFi devices on Monday, July 11. This firmware update is for the SmartThings Hub portion of these devices and does not affect the router functionality. Once downloaded, the SmartThings portion of your hub will briefly go offline as the update is applied during this time the router portion of the device will continue to function. We will update the status page when the release is complete.

Yes, this is because currently, the default joining process checks for drivers first (installed and in the default channel), it will only join with a DTH if there isn’t a driver compatible.

Starting on Tuesday, April 26, new devices onboarded to the SmartThings platform will begin to be backed by Edge (Lua-based) drivers. Note, this transition marks the start of a gradual process that will initially include a small number of devices but will expand to cover more over the coming months. This is an exciting announcement, which will be followed up by many more in the upcoming months as we complete the transition away from Groovy DTHs.
