Surge protection

My network is slowly approaching 30 things and it would be very costly to replace everything if a surge event were to take out some (or all) of my devices. I do have a whole house surge protector attached to my main breaker panel so I have at least some level of protection.
I’m curious… how many people here are protecting their investment?

I have an “Electronics” rider on my home owners insurance policy just in case.

I recently installed one of these for the whole house: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Eaton-Whole-House-Surge-Protector-CHSPT2ULTRA/204761136

I’m also thinking about adding something like this for my entertainment center: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10912&cs_id=1091201&p_id=9290&seq=1&format=2

@wackware Electronics rider sounds like a good piece of mind, but do you need to catalog all pieces that will be covered before an event occurs, or does it cover any electronics currently under your roof?

Call your insurance carrier for requirements of the rider. I’m sure they are different from each other.
