I’ve been using a Smart Things Smart Plug to turn on and off my surge protector when we leave the house. I have a TV/Home Theater/ and a light plugged into the surge protector. I’m not sure how many amps or watts are being pulled but should I be concerned about starting a fire?
The plug can handle 12 amps. You would have to look at the specs of your equipment to be sure but unless you have a whole lot of stuff plug in I doubt your in any danger.
