You guys don’t have to obscure private IP address ranges in screenshots. Its nothing anyone could ever use against you. The only address you’d worry about is your public IP and none of these devices would ever use that as they are behind a router (if it did, you’d have other issues).
this is what i see in the browser
{"devices":[{"name":"Garage Door ","baseUrl":"[10.0.4.92:51054](http://10.0.4.92:51054)","vendor":"MyQ","manufacturer":"myq","model":"garagedooropener","serialNumber":"CG0800728EA2","status":"closed","lastUpdate":"2022-10-17T15:52:12.867321Z"}]}
Is this IP reachable from other machines on your network? If you open your Windows network connections, is that a regular network adapter or is it some kind of virtual one?
not sure how im supposed to check that. can you give me a little more info of what you want me to try
He’s asking if you know if your router hands out IP addresses to your devices using the format
10.0.4.???
Can you find the IP address of your PC your running this on? Via network icon on bottom right of desktop where all the little icons are. Or by looking various other ways.
The bridge has to be on the same IP structure as the bridge host (your PC)
For the most part its the same. The last 2 digits are diff but the rest matches
Okay, I believe that’s good. I am just not sure how the windows bridge handles IP setup so we’ll have to wait for someone that knows to be sure.
Still no luck what you run discovery on your phone app?
No it starts to run and then I just get a bunch of errors. What does it take to set up the docker? I guess I can try that if others have gotten it to work
My suggestion at this point is to not dump a ton of time into it if you’re having trouble. The next iteration should simplify this a lot when it comes to the networking issues.
Your errors your seeing, if it’s the same as you posted before in CLI. Is the edge driver in the hub not seeing your bridge running on your PC.
It seems your hung at getting the bridge visible on the rest of your network.
If you have another PC on the network can you ping the PC running the bridge?
Can you ping the bridge itself?
I’m just shotgunning here because I’m not using the Windows PC version of the bridge. So I don’t really know how the Windows version crosses the bridge, as in does it share the network or actually create a bridge.
Does windows firewall block things like this? Or maybe because your not using a power user level or admin level it’s blocking things?
Have you tried running the windows program as an administrator?
Just more shotgun blast hoping I can get you down the right path.
As for running it on a Pi. It is an option if you have one already, their hard to come by right now.
Ok i don’t have a pi so it looks like I’m back to the windows version.
I don’t have another pc to check anything. So where do I go from here?
It might be easier as @brbeaird said to just wait for his next revision. Sounds like he has good things coming to make things easier for everyone.
I have been out of the smarthings game for awhile new house and other projects with recently getting back into it went to get the older Myq integration , I have done everything I can think of, to get this to work and I can not, I can not for the life of me find the file im suppose to edit to include myq credentials, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know how long the current system is going to work for?
I do not, it has been mentioned someplace here in another topic.
Which method are you doing? that will help everyone too know how to try and help and who can help?
But I believe there is another update coming soon by the post 4 above yours. This might make it easier to install.
If your Doing the Windows install read this post just a little ways up.
This is awesome and thank you for the hard work! I’m currently at the stage where Docker finds the garage doors and says Waiting for discovery, but when I try to discover on the ST app it doesn’t find anything. The Docker is running on my primary PC connected via WiFi on the same network as the hub.
@brbeaird This is so great and thank you for your hard work on getting this integration up and running!
Got this all set up using Docker on my Synology NAS and it was a breeze. One word of note for those using this set up when creating the container and you get to network be sure to select the option for “Use same network as Docker Host”.
I used the default option the first time and even though the logs show it connected to the MyQ API and found the devices, the Smartthings app could not discover them. After changing it to use Host network it was perfect.
I know it was brought up above, but in the old integration there were virtual switches created that were discoverable by Google Home, which I used for routines with the Google Assistant. Would be awesome if this new Edge integration could be usable by Google Home as well, but so far the devices do not show up. Hopefully this could be added without too much stress.
EDIT: I actually perused the posts above about Google Assistant integration and now have useable setup that is actually a bit cleaner (at least in Google Home) than the original groovy implementation was.
For those interested it is similar to a post a ways above:
I created a virtual switch that I named “Virtual Garage Pusher” from the menu > labs section of Smartthings app. From there I created four routines that are linked to the virtual switch: one that says when the virtual switch is turned ‘on’ to open the door and one for when it is turned ‘off’ to close it. Then I created two more to turn the virtual switch itself to ‘on’ if the door’s status is open and one to turn the virtual switch to ‘off’ if the door’s status is closed.
The latter two help to keep the virtual switch in sync if I use the physical pusher on the garage wall / car remote / MyQ app to open or close the door.
So far it has been flawless and I can use Google Assistant to open or close the door even if I have used the physical pushers to open or close it prior.
As I said it is much cleaner from a Google Home perspective because now I only have and need one object versus in the groovy implementation I had two virtual switches (one for open and one for close) in Google Home.
This is a perfect setup for my needs and can’t thank Brian enough for the hard work he has and continues to put into this project that benefits so many of us.
Thank you! I was able to get it to work, Sadly I do not have a desktop so i installed this into my Laptop and it is working, but I will say, i think it slightly sad that we have moved in this direction having a smart app that I did not need to have it linked to a specific computer. is a better way but perhaps this way will work better and be more reliable. But it seems times are changing
