My D-Link (mpeg stream) cameras seem to have disappeared from SmartTiles. The link is still set up as it always was, but they just donāt show up anymore in the dashboard. I tested it with an old instance of smarttiles and it still works in that, just not in smarttiles connect. Any ideas?
Make sure the Camera Feed URL starts ā
http:
ā or āhttps:
ā is in all lowercase.
(Sorry ⦠this is a known bug in the current deployment.)
@Varun_Patel how did you get your D-Link cameras to connect to SmartTiles? I still can not get mine to connect.
Hi David⦠Thereās a few mentions of D-Link in the āSmartTiles Video Topicā⦠take a look and/or re-ask your question over there, please (via link belowā¦)? Good-luck!
Not quite sure what you mean by child dashboard. I only have one and I donāt see an option to delete it in the SmartTiles app.
You would click on your Dashboard from the list of 5 (since you only have one, itās the only one there).
At the bottom of that next screen should be a Remove button
It should also be able to be removed on the IDE by going to My Locations, List SmartApps, and hitting Edit. Youād click the Uninstall link for the dashboard (not for SmartTiles itself, just the dashboard⦠should be indented on a line below it)
EDIT: Adding more info. The Child dashboard refers to the individual dashboards, as opposed to the entire SmartApp itself
Got rid of it in the IDE.
Seems to have gotten rid of SmartTiles completely!
Canāt find any reference to SmartTiles anywhere: My Locations, SmartApps, My Apps.
SmartTiles can only be installed from:
Thanks. I didnāt think I was completely uninstalling it though.
And I was a bit concerned I might end up with two installs.
So I effectively zeroed it out then. Back to it!
As I understand there is a way to use unsupported video cameras with SmartTiles. Can someone supply me info on how? A step by step would be great. Thanks.
Hi Joel,
Though it is a long āTopicā, the information is in the Community Topic below, and you can use the forum Search function to look for certain brands of Video Cameras.
TL;DR; - If you have a non-Flash, āhttpā or āhttpsā URL for your video stream (generally mjpeg
format) that you can test in a plain browser window, then it is likely you can include that exact URL in SmartTiles as a Video Tile.
If this is is not a stream URL, but only a photo snapshot, then you can use the SMV (Stop Motion Video) Tiles⦠generally refresh every 5 seconds, configurable.
Just installed Smart Tiles. Tried to set it up with just one Enerwave switch to see how it works and I get "{āerrorā:true,ātypeā:java.lang.ClassCastException,āmessageā:āAn unexpected error occured.ā}
Hi Marc; sorry to hear of the trouble⦠hereās what we need for debugging:
-
Set the SmartApp ā
Preferences\Preferences\
Log Level
ā to Debug or Trace (Trace has most detail). -
Open a SmartThings IDE Live Logging browser window (in a separate browser instance or incognito).
US: http://graph.api.smartthings.com/ide/logs
UK: https://graph-eu01-euwest1.api.smartthings.com/ide/logs
- Send me the SmartTiles instanceās log output (bunch of lines before and after the error) to:
support@SmartTiles.click
Thanks!!!
For some reasonā¦it started working. Thanks!
Under Video Streams > Generic MJPEG Video Streams add a link to your camera:
http://DDNS ADDRESS TO YOUR CAMERA:PORT/video/mjpg.cgi?&user=USERNAME&pwd=PASSWORD
Fill in the CAPS with the correct info for your setup. I believe the D-Link cameras have a built in ddns function so you can set it up in there.
This worked, thank you!!
Yes I get the same error as Mark Tremblay above.
It donāt work so I will uninstall it.
Hi Spinny; sorry to hear of the trouble⦠hereās what we need for debugging⦠This would be really helpful to us and all the userās of SmartTiles!

Hi,
Got mine working now. I set some preference settings and then the error seemed to go away.
Hi,
Just got SmartTiles, and ST for that matter. One problem that I have is that when the alarm goes off, the SmartTiles app is accessible. So, in theory, a burglar could break in, and then disarm the alarm through SmartTiles. Am I missing a setup item, or is this not an option?
