When connecting multiple Samsung SmartThings Stations as a multi-hub network, what communication method is used between the hubs? Is it Wi-Fi or Zigbee?

There isn’t really any need for communication between the hubs in a hub group, except perhaps for managing the group. The secondaries are acting as additional border routers on a single Thread network and as Zigbee routers on a single Zigbee mesh (with the primary as the coordinator). At any given moment the group is effectively acting like a single hub system (that hub being the primary), just a hopefully more resilient one.
