SmartThings 'Pro'?

Seems like the mystery has been solved, Samsung posted this on their global newsroom today:

“The B2B SmartThings Solutions Zone showcases SmartThings-connected home Internet of Things (IoT) control and energy management solutions.”

Here’s the link to the entire article, the section about SmartThings Pro is towards the end of it:

If Samsung thinks even 1% of smartthings customers are going to pay. Lulz, just shit it down now.

Interesting. As described there, SmartThings pro is similar to a feature They used to have for the property managers of multifamily buildings that have put Samsung smart appliances in each unit. That’s where the “SmartThings energy” feature started, for example.

This is a big business for Samsung in Asia, I don’t know how popular it is in other regions.

Devices can be set to alert property managers when they need maintenance or when something, like your HVAC system, is not working as it should.

Can’t tell from that specific presentation if it’s only going to be part part of a property manager package or if it’s also going to be something that will affect individual customers like most people in this forum. :man_shrugging:t2:

Because they are going to charge for it. My opinion.

SmartThings Pro now figures on the Explore menu on the app under the title “Smarter ways to do business”

“secure energy management experience for diverse business environments, ranging from small family-run businesses to companies and hotels.”

Yep, official announcement with all the details yesterday. It’s a B2B (business to business) commercial system intended for use by professional property managers with multiple buildings and hotels.

We will further enhance Samsung’s IoT solutions for the B2B market through SmartThings Pro,” said Chanwoo Park, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics. “Our customized solutions strengthen display performance in apartment buildings, residential spaces, public facilities like schools and commercial spaces like retail, hotels and offices. SmartThings will not only improve performance for these operators, but it will reduce cost.”

It may show up in the SmartThings app with a few references, but it’s not intended for single-family homes.

I expect ‘Pro’ meaning is the e-mail operation policy.
“Smarthing” is just for B2C because one can make one email for personal devices.
But “Smartthing Pro” may be not for one person
for example , In a Hotel . Only Pro E-mails ( from samsung.com ) could be operated for control many devices of every rooms. ( Smartthing Hub is include in Hotel TV, Each Hub may be registrated with each e-mail )
