I found the same thing only with Sony batteries. Because I bought 12 of them I decided it was time do something about it. I made a little flat wick by folding aluminum foil over a few times. Then I pushed one end just between the plastic and metal tab in the bottom so it comes up and out of the well that the battery goes into. When you push the battery into place it touches and now the battery makes perfect contact. CR2450 is a global standard battery and apart from possible differences in battery life there should be no difference. The only thing you need to be aware of it ensuring the foil is very flat in the bottom corner otherwise it will short across the battery. If you are worried put a small piece of tape on the foil in the corner to give you piece of mind.
I purchased a Duracell battery today for the motion sensor and when I installed it the sensor did not power on. I removed the battery and when you physically compare this new Duracell to the original Panasonic that I removed you can see that the Duracell is just a bit thicker such that the small piece that would touch the negative does not make contact. I don’t have my Energizers any more to compare. I solved the issue with a very small piece of foil in the corner as others have done but Samsung should issue a recall and give everyone a new one which they hopefully have designed better. Bottom line here is you may purchase a Duracell and still need foil. Now I am sorry I gave the energizers away.
Lifetime that isn’t the issue at all. The issue is the physical construction of the battery, particularly the height of the “outside” + portion of the battery.
Actually, if you look at photos of posts, you will see that the physical construction of different brands is different - particularly of the outer/+ portion of the battery, and how far that extends along the side. Batteries that do not extend that portion far enough do not make correct contact.
I found the exact battery CR2450 that Samsung (CentraLite) shipped in the multi sensors.
They are only rated for 550 mA are marked LIXING but the package is sold as UltraLast at Microcenter.
They are very affordable. I bought 4 for the price of one Panasonic.
@obx_bum Do me a favor and look at your battery. Does it have Chinese or Japanese writing on the back of it?
I’m trying to find the one that you bought at Micro Center on Amazon
40 for $23 at 620mah with free overnight shipping from Arrow.com, how cheap are the Micro Center ones? Not that I have a Micro Center in my state…
Mike, that arrow.com price is really good. It looks like there’s no minimum quantity order either. Have you had a good experience using them?
Oh yeah, every time I’ve ordered, there is a minimum $20 for free shipping, but I stock up once a year, twice maybe depending.
They are an authorized Panasonic dealer so you know they aren’t fake batteries. I’ve recommended them here a few times and nobody’s complained!
I think I know the one you are talking about. I picked a few up from the local Battery Warehouse and it looked like some Korean or Asian writing. They didn’t last and the store refunded my money and credited me while I purchased some Panasonics to replace them.
Here is a pic of the new ones.
The UltraLast at MicroCenter are $1.29 ae so that $23 for 40 is a great price. I may have to buy from them.
same thing happened to me when i tried to bend the prongs out for better contact, the whole thing just snapped off (it’s held with crappy conductive glue it seems)
i soldered it back together and it’s been working so far
poor design
I’ve replaced all my batteries now at least once. All with the Panasonic’s and have good luck.
Arrow.com is literally three times cheaper!
Mike, do you also order CR 2477 batteries (for the 2016 model of the ST motion sensor) from arrow?
I’m just wondering which one of these will work…any ideas?
Thanks
I don’t have anything that takes that size but a quick Google search on each model number will get you Panasonic’s spec sheets, they also have a full catalog somewhere that’s very helpful. I use arrow for almost everything. Digikey when they are out or don’t have a specific battery type.
Thanks. I just placed my first order from Arrow.com. Prices are unbeatable. I even added 2 batteries for my harmony remote to the order…CR2032 coin batteries at .18 cents each.
Would’ve paid $4.99 for one at the drugstore down the street.
too bad arrow doesn’t ship batteries to Canada…
There are so many different CR2032, which one is the correct one?
