Does this mean the launch will delayed today?
@garyd9 Please try this link : https://graph.api.smartthings.com/localInstalledSmartApp/list
Right now our process is to test the SmartApps and verify that it plays nicely with the hardware on the hub. Weâre not yet publishing guidelines for when weâd allow a Community developed Device Type or SmartApp to run locally.
The first version of this should allow developers to push their own code to their hub for testing. This is not available at launch.
Thanks Jim,
Iâm not sure how hard it is for Android but for iOS it very easy to add universal device support to an app in development.
Is this just an update to the interface or re-skin of sorts of the existing app?
To me thatâs the only reason that makes sense for lack of tablet support
I stand corrected. Good recovery time.
Damned if you do, damned if you donât. I imagine youâve seen the hundreds of post asking where V2 of the hub is right? So you piss off those folks waiting to roll out the hub until the migration tool is available or piss off the folks who think it should have been help up for the migration utility. It will take me a few hours to bring my 40 devices over manually. Iâll take two hours of work over a few months of waiting.
No matter what you do youâre going to piss people off. Itâs part of business.
But you donât have to, if you communicate effectively. But I agree with you that itâs not a big deal to undo the work youâve done in the past few months on 100 plus devices - in my case - i did it for fun, Iâll do it again.
And by communicate effectively you mean ânever announce it in advance at allâ? You see, you could literally say âWeâre developing hub V3â and not say anything else at all and people will by crying that theyâve been hard done by and let down by the lack of communication on the new device.
So, iOS wins! Yet to get mineâŚ
What? You donât know? v3 is coming out in âfew weeksâ! Veni, vidi, vici. Letâs move on. Oh wait, neither one of us has the new hub but you cannot do anything with ST right now and I donât feel like tinkering with my old one, so yupping should continue.
Missus got it. Not me!
OK⌠So when will the Android version be available for download?

The long awaited SmartThings v2 announcement has finally arrived. I previous read that this new v2 SmartThings hub would natively support the August Door Lock and the Nest Thermostat. Unfortunately, I have not heard anything about its support in this recent announcement. Nor are either of these devices listed on the compatibility list. Is it still in the works? Or was that miss information?
Come on⌠Is that all you got? Soon is relative. TodayâŚtomorrowâŚnext weekâŚnext month? Can you please be a bit more specific?
Weâre still taking a look at Nest, but there restrictive partner agreement is limiting our ability to provide an experience weâre proud of.
As for August their API does not support the features we need to get the âstatusâ of the lock.
Weâre working on both of these fronts and are excited to get these in the offerings.
Iâm amazed at how blind folks are (nothing personal ⌠Iâm just using blunt wording here for effectâŚ):
NB: Tinfoil hat firmly in place!
Has it not occurred to anyone here that SmartThings was forced (by their parent, Samsung) to set their entire timeline for the Hub V2 release and the mobile App V2 release to be precisely timed for IFA?
Samsung is a major player at IFA â the featured Keynote presenter among other things.
I canât estimate how many features or functions related to Hub V2 and App V2 that had to be deferred in order to meet the drop-dead date of September 3rd, 2015. Some deferments are obvious: Migration Tool, Bluetooth Smart, surprise deprecation of good current mobile App features, rather short Beta period for Hub V2, etcâŚ
We can either be thankful for that date, or worried that, despite the long wait, the release was still rushed, and not in the best interest of SmartThingsâs Customers.

Iâm usually a fan of your theories - but I can thoroughly debunk this one. We were not forced or incentivized by Samsung to delay or launch specifically for IFA. It happened to work out that we were going to launch around IFA so the stars aligned.
