I take it back. Since you mentioned Bluetooth, I realized I didn’t restart my phone since the update. I did, and it works! Weird. I guess it isn’t an issue.
And I did check with other members of my household who had the same issue… So something happened at some point. Hopefully it remains OK after the reboot.
Yes, that is rather weird. The SmartThings app is usually quite keen in making sure you know Bluetooth is off when it should be on, and it sounds like in this case Bluetooth was actually on anyway, just something wasn’t working right.
Could you provide an example of the information you’d like to show?
Last time we asked, the engineering team mentioned a capability has a limit of showing two lines of text in the ST app, the amount of characters in those two lines depends on the device’s screen.
I suspect I am in the minority of developers with my own views in this area, so I won’t bother to repeat them.
I do note that:
Device events should be small and must not be used to track the complete state of a device domain. Device events must not contain extraneous data. Devices should generally not emit more than one event per minute, unless their state has changed as a result of user interaction (such as turning a switch on ).
@nayelyz, might you be able to discover whether the above quote, from the ‘Rate Limits and Guardrails’ document, still represents current thinking?
Hi, @orangebucket
Thank you for the reference. I asked the engineering team and yes, that hasn’t changed, same as showing only two lines of text in the app.
As a side note, in the Advanced users app, I saw we can look at the value of the attribute, it won’t present it as HTML nor show the complete text but you can copy the complete value, paste it, and visualize it elsewhere.
