[Schema/C2C] How to apply a custom Device Configuration (range/step) to a deviceProfileId-based cloud-connected device?

Hi, we’re building a Works with SmartThings integration for an
electric heating mattress pad using SmartThings Schema (Cloud-to-Cloud).

Setup

  • Integration: ST Schema (C2C), webhook-based
  • Device reference: deviceProfileId (not a pre-made DHT)
  • Device Profile created via Developer Console
  • Capabilities: st.switch, st.switchLevel

Background
Our hardware is controlled by a power level of 1-99. It does not
accept a target temperature, so thermostatHeatingSetpoint is not
applicable. We use switchLevel and want the slider to show 1-99
instead of the default 0-100.

Question 1 — Device Configuration not taking effect
We created a Device Configuration in the Console with
"range": [1, 99], "step": 1 on level.value, but the app still
shows a 0-100 slider.

We suspect the presentation (vid) is not linked to the profile.
Is the correct flow:

presentation:device-config:generate
→ edit range/step in dashboard, detailView, automation
→ presentation:device-config:create
→ deviceprofiles:update (set vid/mnmn in metadata)

Is deviceprofiles:update supported for Schema-based C2C devices,
or is there a different procedure? Also, do existing paired devices
need to be removed and re-added for changes to appear?

Question 2 — Category for a level-controlled heating device
With a lighting-oriented profile, our mat appears as a light and gets
picked up by “turn off all lights” routines. Which component category
do you recommend for a heating device that is controlled by level
rather than temperature?

Question 3 — WWST certification
Would submitting a heating product with a lighting-style presentation
be flagged during WWST review?

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
