Samsung Core Developers Please bring back the capability in routines to have BOTH Positive and NEGATIVE AND HOURS offsets from Sunset & Sunrise. This was lost in the great migration going on FIVE years ago now. The use of virtual switches and clugy workarounds may be fascinating mind bending for the more technically inclined amongst us. But for the rest of us the old fashioned straightforward approach is much more intuitive. Thank You from a committed 3 hub location and many device Smart Things expansionary minded user.
@arrm I was just looking at this myself and initially I had the option to select before/after on both sunset and sunrise (didn’t try hours/minutes), defaulting to after. However on returning to take a screen shot to post here the option has stopped presenting…
Tried closing app and clearing cache but still absent, very strange behaviour as I have existing routines (see below) using this feature which run fine. Option seems to be fleeting for new routines now (Android v11, app v1.8.21
28) - @nayelyz ?
But your screenshots are clearly showing these options?
@Andreas_Roedl Screenshots are from an existing routine, the experience I detailed (them ‘disappearing’) was on attempting to create a new routine…
Sorry if that was not clear
As far as I can see the missing functionality is: to be able to create a time range that uses a fixed time for one of the start and end points and sunrise or sunset with offsets for the other; and to be able to set an offset over 60 minutes. Is that basically what you are saying? The other variations all seem to be there.
To be able to set an offset from either the sunset or sunrise in hours & minutes AND Positive OR Negative.
Such as '4 hours 15 mins BEFORE Sunrise. Or 2 hours 30 mins AFTER Sunset.
I believe that can be achieved with the Rules API. The mobile app only allows up to 60 minutes before/after sunrise/sunset.
The BEFORE and AFTER is already available though. It is just the offset is limited to 60 minutes.
Rules can handle bigger offsets, it is just they’ve decided to have a limit in Routines for whatever reason.
Hi @ArtM
1 - Could you please share a screen recording showing the issue, please?
2 - Are you using Android or iOS? some instructions change based on that
Thanks!
I am using android 14 on Samsung a54 .
All my SS device control is done using the SS app on this phone.
The SS app allows only up to 59 mins before or after sunset or sunrise. (The Before/After solves my positive/negative issue !)
So expanding the time scale beyond 59 mins or adding an hours scale in addition to minutes would solve the problem.
