I need to relocate my router off the home office floor up to a shelf. My ST hub is on the same shelf & will only be about 8" apart.
Is this to close & if yes how far is a safe distance?
Mike
My hub is like 4 inches away from my router and I have no issues with Zigbee devices. Theoretically there should be interference, probably depends whether your wifi and Zigbee channels overlap on the 2.4GHz frequency. Just move it where you need to and see what happens.
It’s best if your hub is at least 3 m from your Wi-Fi router.
Many people have them closer together, and things work OK. So as @marktheknife suggested, you can try it and see how it goes. It won’t always be obvious if there’s a problem, though, as it might just mean that some messages are missed and get re-transmitted. So you could just end up with a slower less responsive network than you would if they were farther apart.
And as he also mentioned, the channels make a great deal of difference, so you might just be lucky as far as having a set up that is the least likely to cause interference.
So I personally wouldn’t start out with them that close together, but a lot of people do and if it’s not working well you can always move it again.
