Hi, I have several AirThings sensors in my house to measure Radon, PM, and VOCs. I am curious if an Edge Driver could be created to pull this data into SmartThings. There is an API website for AirThings. I can see this data in their app for each sensor, but there is no other automation available to manage the air quality. For example, turn on air purifier when VOCs are high. I tested the IFTTT automation, but the capabilities were limited. SmartThings integration would be much more powerful. Here is the AirThings API website link if a developer is interested in taking this on.
Thank you.
That would be a so-called cloud-to-cloud connection; the manufacturer itself should provide the integration for it within SmartThings. SmartThings Edge Drivers do not have access to the internet and, consequently, cannot access third-party clouds.
Aside from that, we shouldn’t interfere with the partner business too much. Providing Edge drivers for locally connected devices is okay though. All you can do is to contact the manufacturer and ask them to consider a SmartThings integration.
Thank you for the advice Andreas. They had promised an integration years ago, but it never happened. That is why I bought their products. Their sensors work great though. I will contact them.
