OK thanks switched to the original connect.
What causes the long 20 second delay before I hear anything? Is this just network lag or something else.
think its a common side effect of using a GENERIC MEDIA RENDERER(?).
I have the same issue⦠cant tolerate it so also bought an R1 which has native support with Smartthings.
I just use my Jongo S3 as a Bluetooth speaker for my amazon dot.
That is an expensive BT speaker!
I guess I will have to take the delay, I will not buy an expensive speaker just for voice messages.
You can always use a cheap tablet runnin lannouncer and bluetooth speaker combination if you only need voice message. I found it to have less delay
I thought about that, was going to get an Amazon Tablet, but now they played with the OS. I have heard it is hard to install some things now.
Yes its harder now to install some things on it. But I only use mine for basic macros, ActionTiles and Lannouncer so it works pretty well without rooting or anything like that
hi,
after long months of usage, I have realized that if I use media renderer as an alternative device to original Sonos implementation, there are missing points.
for example, the original sonos device type shows the playing radio stationās name in the dth.
but if I use media renderer , I can only see strings like āx-sonosapi-stream:s143416?sid=254&flags=8224&sn=0ā
is there any easy way to change this and show radio station name ?
thanks.
sorry⦠my bad⦠meant Jongo T2ā¦lol
Whatās the delay in playing messages like with the Samsung R1?
i have not noticed any.
That completely changes my budget for a DLNA speaker solution. I assumed the R1 wouldnāt work well because itās not in the official list of āSmartThings compatible thingsā. I was looking at the R5 but can get a great deal on refurb R1s.
Thanks
No regrets with R1. Got mine for $65
I received my new R1 from EBay for $59.00 including shipping. Works great. My only problem is that when I use it for notification it doesnāt return to playing music. But that is software. I am using mine without DLNA Media Player but using Big Talker. R1 installes native in ST.
any idea ?
The sonos speaker creates the metadata from several radio statiosns , but media renderer receives the metadata, if your source send the metadata the media renderer will show that info,
Generic Media Renderer its āGenericā no extrea features like sonos or other high end speakers have like spotify, groups, pause.
if you have compatible speaker like sonos, samsung or bose who are fully supported by ST , you must to use their DH.
actually I have sonos speakers but I prefer using your device handler because I can add modifications to it and use other language text to speech (not english)
btw, I believe the original ST sonos device does not support groups as well. am I wrong ?
Any idea why my speakers suddenly canāt play any messages? It worked fine on my google Home. Then suddenly it play sound that message (text) is received, but nothing more.
Testing out on my TV (worked before) , it pop up a text msg after some second that says : Error Playing this file.
Any idea?
Hi, Check the logs,
you must to see something like
mediaRendererAction(SetAVTransportURI, AVTransport, /AVTransport/ctrl, [InstanceID:0, CurrentURI:http://s3.amazonaws.com/smartapp-media/polly-tts/salli/_this_is_a_test.mp3?ts=1490140601544, CurrentURIMetaData:])
Check the CurrentURI link to verify if its working http://s3.amazonaws.com/smartapp-media/polly-tts/salli/_this_is_a_test.mp3?ts=1490140601544
