Question on automating light with motion at night

I am using a smart app to turn on my kitchen lights dimmed with motion between sunset and sunrise (motion sensor and zwave switch). I liketo have this dimmer setting at 50% for this trigger. The problem is when I am in the kitchen at night and I’ve set the dimmer at 100% (say to do some work), the trigger dims my kitchen to 50% as soon as there is motion. If I manually increase it to 100%, the trigger again kicks it down to 50% with motion.

Is there a way to keep this trigger but only have it activate if the light is switched “off”.

I had a problem very similar that the Rule Machine app fixed for me. Basically living room lights will turn on via motion between certain times if my living room light switch isn’t already on.

The power of this app is a switch state being evaluated.
