Good for you, Barry!
I contacted support over this issue last weekend (Dec 13 20114) and was very pleasantly surprised when a firmware update was pushed to my hub…and the problem resolved. I am now able to reliably control the growing number of Hue lights in my house.
Good luck

Good for you, Gerry. You may have had a an older firmware then .
In the IDE, this is my version:
Firmware Version 000.011.00705 (Is yours different?)
Hardware Version hub v1, Australian customer,hub v1, US customer,hub v1, European customer
As such I have intermittent issues every other day but do realize that hues are still in the lab and full integration is yet to come. Will really appreciate it you let me know your firmware version.
I’ve noticed the same problem in the past with ST and Hue. I experience the problems most often and at its worst when I’ve recently been using the Hue app (or another 3rd party Hue app) and then try to use ST to control the lights. I’ve actually seen the problem go the other way too (use ST to change the lights and then try to adjust them from Hue and only some respond). This may be a problem in the Hue cloud and how it handles user control.
I’ve been writing lots of code specific to my setup to try to move it exclusively to ST and that has been helping a lot with getting everything to respond as I want it to.
Curious that your hub is identified as all three types (Australian, US & European) when it can only be one. Mine is correctly identified as (only) Australian.

@storageanarchy Thank you very much Barry! I was having problems with the on/off consistency and this is a great workaround until the Hue bulbs make it out of the Labs.
I never posted back again, but the firmware update fixed this for me as well.
Guys. What firmware version are you talking about
Barry, for the pour soul like me please help us with IFTTT part., a little more details…
I’m having similar problems with my “Hue+Sonos triggered by motion” adventure. Most of the time I find that one of my Hue bulbs will not turn on with the others when motion is detected…but ST insists that the bulb is ‘on’. Very annoying.
According to the ST dashboard, my firmware version is 000.011.00603 (US Hub v1). What firmware version are you folks receiving to address the Hue issues?
Thanks,
I talked to support and they upgraded me to a Beta firmware which is 000.012.00074 - this seems to be working very well so far (my motion sensor is successfully turning on 3 Hue bulbs and the Sonos every time).
This is one interesting finding. If I leave my 13 hues alone from other apps to its standard colors. Reboot the ST hub once and leave it as it is, the next few days the hues act as it should. Once I mess with the colors or level again thru some other app, even if they were switched on via ST, couple of hues will show bad attitude when I try to turn them off via ST. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
This is the same issue I was experiencing. Contacted support and they pushed a firmware update. Everything works a lot better. Bulbs come on and off reliably with motion sensors / schedules. Very happy with SmartThings so far…best Christmas present ever!!
What firmware do you have now?
I’m on 000.011.00705. Not sure what it was before the update.
Hi. I just want to report that I’m having lots of problems with actions reliably working 100% of the time. I thought it was just my hue lights but it’s happening with z-wave light switches and sonos as well. It seems that every other day actions aren’t fully executing and the status of thing state in the app are incorrect leaving me no choice but to restart my hub.
This gives me a very low level of confidence using this product as a security solution for my home. It seems more like a security threat. Is it possible that this product was released too soon or without the appropriate level of QA?
Please tell me this is a known issue. I don’t want to have to return it, but it’s of no use to me if it doesn’t reliably work.
You are not alone… We have been facing this for weeks… Toss a coin and start a betting game… Will work or will not on a given day!
Thanks Ron. I feel like I should post reviews, etc… To warn people before investing in this thing. The fact that it has been a problem, and the company isn’t acknowledging it is an epic fail for this company in my opinion. I would probably be fine to keep it and wait if someone from smart things sent us an email telling us they are aware of the issue, and they are working on it. They have our email addresses. Considering they are hiding from the issue compels me to warn any new prospective buyers in whatever way I can.
@JosephLange I am with you but I believe in my heart that ST is definitely trying. They are extremely helpful in every possible way. And I luv them. Will Luv them more when things that I care about works as expected. I believe in them and hope things work out for all of us together as a team. And please know that at least ST does acknowledge the fact. They have gone out of the way always to help with products which are still in the labs. But please don’t put me in a position to answer “how long” in the labs…
Key to a happy and satisfied life;
Hue owners: stick to 3rd party and the stock app
Sonos owners: just stream music and no dog barking.
Harmony owners: you are totally doomed. Use it for A/V functions only.
For everything else there is the ST hub.
