Osram/Sylvania Lightify (it works)

Osram just released a new line of zigbee light bulbs called Lightify. Temperature tunable white only. About $30 each. Here’s the kicker: the Hue bridge won’t pair with them, with or without ST. So either they’re not ZLL certified and don’t know the secret handshake (in which case ST might become able to pair even if Hue bridge can’t) or they’re using the no color temperature tunable device type instead of the no color dimmable device type. (ZLL has a lot of different bulb device classes. ) Or both of the above are true. Anyway, I wouldn’t expect them to work with ST yet, but if someone knows different, let us know. @tyler , is ST supporting all ZLL device classes, or just some? CNET has a detailed comparison with other brands.

I been thinking of getting the osram LIGHTIFY Gardenspot Mini RGB Will i need to buy the gateway for this ? I searching for a answer without luck i am assuming yes i need the gateway hub for this am i right to think so ?

Osram Lightify Device Firmware Updates?

Yes, I know, SmartThings doesn’t yet support OTA firmware updates yet. My question here is, what’s the best way to go about updating the firmware on my bulbs? Is it really a matter of deleting them from SmartThings, adding them back to their original base, updating the firmware, and then adding them back to SmartThings? This is kind of a pain in the butt if that’s the case. I only have 4 bulbs, and I’m already not looking forward to that. I have a lot of Rule Machine rules set up using those bulbs, they’re connected to IFTTT rules, my amazon echo, etc, etc. I’m going to be moving soon, and I can’t even imagine how much of a pain in the butt it will be when I have 3 or even 4 times that many bulbs. It would be cool if the IDE had some sort of “hibernation” feature, where you could temp…
