One smart switch, One dumb switch 3 way configuration

I have a GE ZW4005 , can this be configured to use one smart switch on one side, and a dumb switch on the other? Or am i forced to use a smart switch, master/slave configuration?

Thanks!

You will need to use a GE Add Switch on the other end(s). You can’t use a dumb switch in conjunction with the Smart Switch.

As @jkp mentioned, you have to replace all the switches with ones designed to work together. Otherwise you can burn out the master switch.

Also, the master switch will not function properly in a 3-way configuration without an add-on/accessory/auxiliary switch of the same protocol.

Thanks for all the replies, kinda sucks that I have to replace them all but no big deal. Thanks for the link @JDRoberts , I looked but finding stuff on the forums is a bit difficult.

No question, the search just doesn’t work very well for a forum with as many different technical topics as this one. . :disappointed_relieved:

Thanks for the help everyone, I used add on switches and got it working… This is going to get expensive, I never realized how many switches in my house are 3 or 4 way its crazy!
