I would delete your old ecobee3 devices and ecobee3 connect to start fresh
Thank you, however, ive done everything to no avail. Delete everything, reboot ST hub, reboot ecobee, restart phone, uninstall\reinstall ST app, .
F**K it, im going to the bar…
used the ecobee setup from ST and no issues so far with the integration…
I see mentions of a Ecobee3 smart app. Do they mean device driver? When I brought up ST after installing my Ecobee3, it was automatically detected and it installed the driver shown in the screen shot @akoziol99 posted. I can’t find an Ecobee specific smart app.
Anyway, I have the same problem as many: the device gets disconnected and I have to log in again. How do you do that? I don’t see anything on the device panel or in its options.
##Update##
The message says go to my Ecobee (Connect) SmartApp. So there is an app. I found it on github. Isn’t SmartThings creating their own software? I’m in no hurry to install it. I’ll be turning my furnace off in a day or two until November.
Just got my Ecobee 3 hooked up with the new integration. But for a minute I was not happy.
My heat was “locked” at 66 degrees but when I opened up the app on ST’s it changed the set temp to 69 degrees (according to the Eccobee app only). In the ST app I lowered the temp way down but the furnace would not shut off.
Until I pressed the resume arrow on the ST’s Ecobee app. Now it appears to work, both the ST’s app & Ecobee app. match up when I change the set temps.
Hope this new thing works.
The App is what you used to do the install. In the “Thing” view simply click the Gear and then click Guided Setup. That will open the SmartApp again so you can re-authenticate. It should also show up for you under your SmartApps under the Hamburger Menu (the one the comes in from the right).
@StrykerSKS, I haven’t been on here for a while and was a bit surprised, it sounds like SmartThings has come out with an ‘official’ app for the Ecobee3?
Can you confirm if I’m understanding this correctly?
Is this ‘official’ app related to the project you are working on? Any ideas how it compares?
They have come out with an official DTH for Ecobee 3 and it shows up on the marketplace like a normal “thing” now.
It is not related to the one I’ve been working on, however, I have already started feeding improvements back to the main branch with my first Pull Request going in this past weekend.
Still a long way to go before it is up to parity but my goal is to continue to contribute back to the main branch, just as I had announced when I started the project. So hopefully it will continue to improve.
There are likely some things I’ve done that SmartThings may not be willing to integrate (such as my custom icons with the black backgrounds), but I’ll contribute back as much as they are ready to use.
It is missing Programs/Comfort Settings. Still doesn’t use the multiAttributeTiles, doesn’t let you set the temperature when in Auto mode, doesn’t have integration with Routines/Modes, doesn’t expose the thermostat as a separate sensor, doesn’t allow you to set the polling interval, and probably several others that I’m forgetting.
Can you tell me what the official app is called? I’ve looked in the marketplace and haven’t seen an app for the Ecobee3. I looked in climate control and other.
Don’t look for a SmartApp, look for a device (Things) instead.
In the Marketplace --> Climate Control --> Thermostats --> Ecobee --> ecobee3 Smart Thermostat
Thanks @StrykerSKS. I already have that installed.
Unlike tech alcohol will never let you down
I’ll drink to that.
Well, then you are already on the official device/SmartApp.
The SmartApp itself if called Ecobee (Connect)
and is installed behind the scenes when you do the device setup. To open it again just go to your Thing, click the Gear and select Guided Setup.
About to head to happy hour so think I will. I’m a thread related note I am leaning towards getting an ecobee3 so this has been an interesting read.

edit: nevermind…
Anyone know of a way to set the Thermostat in Home/Away mode when i arm/disarm using the official app ?
thanks
@BatraD, the ST thermostat DTH (Device Type Handler) does not support the basic
methods to set the ecobee thermostat to Away or Home.
You’d need a DTH that supports the basic methods.
Fortunately, I’ve developed a custom DTH that does that and much more. Since V5, My ecobee device can even provide some custom tips based on your actual indoor/outdoor conditions at your home.
As you may know, I ask for a modest contribution due the amount of time required to expose all rich ecobee APIs to ST. My Ecobee device is also more resilient than the ST stock device as far as cloud-to-cloud connections between ST and ecobee.
You can find My ecobee Device at my store:

Regards.
P.S. Another alternative would be to use IFTTT but the change won’t be reflected immediately in the ST stock device as it’s different integration and they do not talk to each other.
