[OBSOLETE] Dome Mouser (Official)

Will you be updating the device handler to work with the new mobile app anytime soon? I bought several of these traps and unfortunately I can’t get the latest device handler to work as it did for the classic app. I wish I had the knowledge to make it myself. Thank you

There’s a native device handler now that SmartThings made. Have you tried it? Not quite as many options as this one, but mostly works in the new app.

No.

I worked with a few people at Dome to write the handlers for all their products, but over the last 4 months I’ve tried contacting them directly 3 times and through their website’s contact form 2 times because they need to update their siren documentation and I haven’t received a single response.

They’re not willing to spend a couple of minutes acknowledging my emails so I’m no longer supporting any of the handlers I’ve written for their products.

I’m leaving them on GitHub because they can still be used to change the advanced settings, but after the settings have been synced you should change them back to their built-in handler.

Is Dome still in business? They haven’t released a new device in years.

I don’t see a mousetrap type in the devices list, nor do I see this listed under the Dome brand. Where are you seeing that this is natively supported?

They are still selling these traps. With winter coming, they caught my eye. Having these connect over zwave would be great for garages, attics and crawlspaces that are difficult to monitor daily.

Edit: Looks like their “Buy Now” link leads to an amazon listing that is out of stock. You can buy them for twice the price from other sellers.

You are replying to a post which is a year old. From 2019 through 2020 it was supported through the classic app, but never made the full migration to the new V3 app. It still shows up in the list of stock groovy DTHs.

I don’t know whether the custom groovy DTH discussed in this thread works with the current smartthings app or not.

I saw it was an old thread. I was hoping you guys were using these still since you were in the thread. Thanks.

It isn’t listed in the new app, but SmartThings has a default Groovy DTH for it. They also now have a beta Edge Driver for it. Using either you just add generic zwave device in the app and it finds it. Both work well in my experience

If the old built-in handler still works then you can use this handler to change the settings and then change the handler back to the built-in handler afterwards.

Edge drivers are still in beta, but if it’s reliable then using that is probably your best option. Unfortunately you can’t swap between drivers and DTHs so if you use the driver you won’t be able to change the settings with my custom DTH.

@Automated_House, does the Edge driver expose any of the settings?

Nope. Just the basics.

I won’t be converting the Dome Mouser DTH into an Edge Driver so it will stop working once the Groovy platform is retired, but it doesn’t need a custom driver.

The default Zwave Mouse trap has the correct fingerprints to support it
