[OBSOLETE] Aeon HEM v1 DH Discussion (DTH link in post 411)

I just updated the code again, as you changed more battery stuff, works fine no problems. In the config the second option “Show Battery On Main Tile” should that be on even if I don’t use batteries?

No thank you for all the work. I am glad you put that cavit about the other device handler for reading clamps separately as it screwed mine up. But I figured out a quick fix. If you click the (X) next to the bogus entries then change the settings to what yours should be, it resets itself.

Nope, you can turn that off if you don’t use batteries. That way all you’ll see is the message about USB power.

I turned it off, but you still see the Icon and USB Power, so I don’t think it is doing anything in IOS.

Yup, that’s right. One of the changes I’m working on is removing those altogether if someone ops to turn it off. I ran into some technical issues I need to figure out, but that’s one of the things next on my list. There’s always more room for improvement.

Hi @idioffo89,

Please update to the latest DTH I posted above. That should take care of low battery notifications you’re getting when you don’t have batteries in place.

John I mentioned in another topic that I went through a good half dozen HEM device handlers,
and my HEM only ever returned zeros.
Started working with your last no-battery handler, but only after it’s predecessor set the 120 volt
directly. I have a strong suspicion my HEM has no valid default…

There’s a way to force the HEM back to factory default parameters, which is good at times when DTH’s can hose things up at times.

If you look at any of my HEM DTH’s, you’ll see in the Configure section where you can uncomment a couple lines of code that will do a factory parameter reset. If you opt to do that, make sure to comment out all the other configurationSet commands for the other parameters.

Once you do that and publish for yourself, tap on the Configure tile. Put the commented/uncommented lines back the way they were, and tap on Configure again.

This should get your HEM back to normal.

The new unified HEM DH looks great. I like the usb power icon on Android. And I am still getting valid data!
And with all due respect - I am not touching configuration defaults as long as my HEM is working.
I did the uncomment reset defaults in the middle of my six varieties of DH - had no beneficial effect.
Removing my HEM from the net and re-adding it may have helped. That was recent.

I updated and now I get an icon in those lefthand tiles, finally lol.

So, with battery reporting set to on, and with no batteries installed the main tile shows “USB Power, 99% Battery.” Just FYI and perhaps by design …

UPDATE: After toggling back and forth a little, battery showed 0% which is what I’d expect. Then with a few more toggles, back to 99%, again, with no batteries installed.

If you have no batteries installed you should have the toggle in configuration in the off position. Then you won’t have those battery readings on the main tile.

Yes, I realize that. I am just reporting that the battery indicator is unreliable if you do happen to have the option set to on.

I believe that the OP realizes that and that is why he suggested to me to turn the switch to off if no battery is present and to change the battery reporting to 60 seconds in the last config item.

Thanks @johnconstantelo. I updated to the latest DTH, its not showing the low battery notifcations anymore. Quick question is it better to remove the HEM from smartthings and add it back again when changing DTH?

I will just comment that I directly changed the DH on my devices page.
My tablet immediately updated with the new tiles.
I did change the device name on the tablet, hit done, then configure to force it all out.
My max and min power readings showed null until I reset them; then they immediately got valid data.
Energy showed valid data through this, so I did not reset it.
Everything is updating correctly now.
I am real leery about removing my HEM from the net. I always feel like it won’t reconnect.

Thanks I will try it out and see if it works for, I really dont want to remove it from ST and add it back in because of all the rules and smartapp i have linked to it, But when I look into the setting I can see old settings from an old DH i have used in the past. Any suggestion on how to get rid of them without excluding the HEM and include it back ?

I have not removed it from the mesh as it isn’t necessary unless you played around and the device handler picced up erroneous settings as I have posted up above a good number of posts.

Nope, no need to do that for just changing DTH’s. You should be fine!

That indeed would also reset all parameters to the factory default.

Yeah I had to put some value in there because of how health check works now with battery reporting. If you don’t use batteries just turn it off. I have some ideas on how to change that.

It’s been a long day for me, but I will work on some more improvements tonight and post updates as soon as I can.
