No idea what's going on: Smart Life + Alexa (not SmartThings)

We’re on the same page. Scary.

The bass reminds me of something else I thought about a long time ago with regards to it being cool if someone created a product like this.

So you remember the globes back in the 80s that had electricity and it changed as you touched the globe.

Here’s a reminder for us old folks:

So picture this. You have one of these globes, minus the electricity (or leaving it as one option) sitting on a counter or table, (contains video and two way audio) and integrated with SmartThings, that when someone approaches the front door and the camera detects motion, the image of the person is displayed in the globe surrounded by smoke within (3 dimensionally) with the ability to talk and listen from it. Echo Show on steroids and mushrooms. I see you my pretty!

I guess you could go down either of these routes:

At risk of getting in trouble for pointing out the obvious, uhhhh… ahh never mind lol

Its possible that he tried installing Smart Fish too which may have gotten him better results.

A followup to this silly thread: I got a pair of ikustar mini smart plugs for $23 total. They run on the Smart Life system.

Smart Life works fine, and works fairly easily with Alexa.

There is but one glitch: when you search the App Store, the correct app does not come up. You have to search the Web… it’s the same app for a bunch of these inexpensive WiFi devices. (it would be easier if the vendors provided a link to the app.)

Edit: link to the app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/smart-life-smart-living/id1115101477?mt=8

Once you connect your plug to the app, you’re rolling… then you do just like the tp-link deal with the Alexa skill linking.

Now to find a way to run these in SmartThings…

I wish I was as smart as all the experts replying to this thread. When I try to enable Smart Life with Alexa i get "We are unable to link Smart Life at this time ". The device works fine from my phone.

This forum is for people who are using the Samsung smartthings home automation platform.

SmartLife is a completely unrelated platform from a Chinese company. It has nothing to do with SmartThings And there is no official integration between them.

So people are making all the jokes they are making because someone asked a smartlife question in a smartthings forum. It’s sort of like asking a question about a Ford car in a BMW forum. Yes, they are both automobiles, but when it comes to the specifics of repair and maintenance there are just a lot of differences. :sunglasses:

This is a very active forum, so it does tend to come up towards the top of Google searches on general home automation topics. But if you need help with another product, like smartlife, and Alexa, I would suggest you get in touch with Amazon’s help service. I have always found them very good.

Sorry but this product is not user friendly like others.

You are not crazy. I have been using Smart Life outlets for two years with Alexa with not one problem. Now Alexa will no longer see the ones I add and I am not a novice. But smartthings is not to be confused with smart life…

I know that this is over 2 years old, but I had the exact same problem and I was able to resolve.
I had repeatedly been trying to login through the phone Alexa App, which continued to give me problems. However, when I went to the Smartlife Skill desktop site. I was able to successfully link and then to discover the devices.
