Came to see if it was safe yet. I think I’ll wait a bit longer.
Do we have a best practice for migrating to the new skill? Just install? Disable old skill and then install? Delete everything from web based and start from scratch?

Disable old skill, login to Alexa.amazon.com on a desktop web browser and delete all smartthibgs connected devices, THEN enable new integration, finally rebuild broken Alexa groups and routines
Just removed everything, readded and rebuilt the routines. Still nothing
For number 3, will that fix seeing child devices from ST_Anything devices too?
I just connected to this new skill and Alexa recognizes 2 of my 60 devices - both WEMO devices
Finally started working again
Alexa only shows you two devices? I assume the other 58 contain switches and lights too?
I should mention that after problems started, I disabled a lot of my routines. However, what I did was I enabled two routines for when my front door opens. The first was using my physical contact sensor as the trigger. The second was a virtual switch based on that contact sensor.
The routine that started working was the one triggered by the physical sensor. The virtual switch routine didn’t work.
Until @lars confirms it is fixed, Or there is an official announcement that it is fixed, I would assume that they are continuing to work on it and that it will probably continue to be erratic until such announcement.
I have 4 Ring cameras, a Harmony Hub, a Chamberlin Garage door opener, 4 SONOS speakers in that number along with the switches and lights.
Seems to be working better for me but an official announcement should be issued at some point…
Is it safe yet to install?
I just check in on the alexa.amazon site and all 60 of my devices show up - somehow. I am reluctant to delete them and try again, but I might do that just to see what happens
You’re already suffering from the latest app location disaster like me, so why add more misery? I wouldn’t if I were you until something official from ST is communicated.
I’m not but seeing some positive news gives me hope but then again one thing gets fixed & another breaks. This is becoming very tiresome.
To be fair, smartthings staff have never said officially that it was fixed. Just that they are working on it.
The fact that behavior is erratic while they are working on it it’s frustrating, but it’s best to just think of it as still broken until there’s an official announcement.
I updated the ST Alexa Skill and now I need to create a virtual Multi Sensor, because Alexa no longer recognizes my Samsung Multi Sensor as a supported device.
Anyone have suggestions for the best SmartApp to use with a Multi Sensor? Anyone here successfully using their Multi Sensor with Alexa after updating?
Unfortunately, the Alexa integration is broken at this time. Not for all users every time, but once you have the problem, you will have it with all your sensors whether they are virtual or physical. The problem can come and go, but there’s nothing you can do about it one way or the other except to have patience.
Engineering is working on the problem, but no fix yet and no timeline promised.
So you can try a virtual device if you want, but it’s unlikely that it will work for you right now.
From my latest SmartThings support incident email:
We are sorry for the trouble you have been experiencing with the new Alexa integration. Since this has became an unique issue for most of the users, our engineering team is working with Alexa on a fix. In the meantime, please continue to work with Lars in SmartThings Community and kindly wait until he confirms the fix with an official announcement.
I have tried to read through all these threads but only found one that addressed my issue.
I’ll first explain how I have had things setup with Alexa, then explain my experience with then new Alexa skill.
For the past 3 years I have had 3 locations on 1 account. I wanted to control each location with Alexa from the Alexas placed in that location. I did this by creating 3 separate amazon accounts and linking each location to to each amazon account that I setup for that home/location. Again, this worked perfectly fine for around 3+ years.
Ok, I removed the old skill and linked the new skill to the first location. I was excited to hear that the new skill could control multiple locations. I thought that would be cool, I could add a few devises from location 2 to location 1. Well, I linked the new skill and it didn’t ask me what locations I wanted, nor what devices I wanted, so I thought well it must have settings somewhere to make those changes. Nope! It added all the devices from all 3 locations all together in the Alexa app. I now have nearly 300 devices in the Alexa app, and I don’t know what device belong to what location. For example, I have 3 living room lamps now and don’t know which one is which. And now I’m wondering, Is it going to allow me to add ST locations to the separate amazon accounts or will I have to change all the echo devices at each location to the same account?
This is the STUPIDEST thing I have even seen. I thought this was suppose to be an upgrade? it’s a downgrade. Downgrade isn’t even strong enough.
Ok “Smartthings” how am I suppose to resolve this? If you’re going to work this out and need a little time, fine, I’m reasonable. But if this is by design, Hubitat is looking very appealing.
Can anyone help me if I’m missing something? Thank you!
