OK, this is just a cute blog article from someone who uses a wheelchair writing about some of the smart devices in her life. But I wanted to share it because this is very much how many of my friends think about their smart home. It’s not about the technical details, it’s not about showing off to friends: it’s about practical very real benefits to their every day lives and to greater independence.
This is why it’s so important that companies in the home automation space understand the need for reliability and predictability. If it works on Monday not only does it need to work on Tuesday: it needs to work on every Monday without requiring tinkering (or hands!) For at least the next six months. And preferably a year. Do that, and you will make a friend for life.
