Monitoring Automation Transfer Swich?

Hi,
I did a search and could not find anything.

I would like to monitor the status of dry contacts in an automatic transfer switch.

Is there a device that has its own supply voltage & just looking for an open or closed?

Thanks
C

Monoprice door contact or Ecolink door contact both have post for external monitoring.

What country are you in? The device selection does vary.

In any case, there is a community FAQ listing devices of just this type:

FAQ: List of devices with dry contact input from external sources

Thanks,

USA

So just to clarify and confirm compatibility…

Im looking at the “ Ecolink door contact ”

Dose it have its own voltage? One terminal is a hot ( of any V 120 or less?)

I think I may have found my answer…

  • Frequency 908.42MHz
  • Range up to 100 feet
  • Battery life up to 3 years with 50 openings/closing per day
  • CR123A Lithium battery
  • Input on the sensor for non-powered external contact
  • BOTH brown and white cases included in each box

The way I monitor my automatic transfer switch: wired two 220VAC relays with no contacts connected to two Ecolinks door sensors. One relay coil is wired to Generator feed, another to Utility feed.
This way I see when utility power went down, generator started. I also set up timer if more than a week past since last generator’ self test to send me notification.

Nice idea. Most of the ATS i have worked on, come with those points monitored by dry contacts. I did not look to closely, at mine yet.
The timer is a good idea too
