This is now available for preorder.
The price looks ok for a matter over thread presence and illuminance sensor, and it’s discounted on preorder (to £25.99). Delivery supposedly in December. I’m tempted, but then I jumped at the sonoff one only to be disappointed. I’d like to know to what extent it’s configurable from SmartThings and or the Meross app before taking the plunge.
I like how they market it as a 4 in one device, one of the 4 being its battery .
A little disappointing but not a deal breaker for me. Maybe it will come later with an updated driver.
Does the Aqara multi zone presence sensor support multi zones within ST, I suspect it does, so it ought not to be a deficiency of the ST UI. Mind you this being matter it ought not to need a bespoke driver.
If I understand the M605 zones correctly, it’s only distance based. So a single axis instead of both axis like the FP2. Cool to see, but not quite zones like FP2. Am I reading that right?
Three-Zone Smart Scene Control: Divide the detection range into three customizable zones in the Meross App. Each zone can independently set presence/absence conditions and appears as separate sensors on third-party platforms for advanced automation. Examples:Study: 5m → main light on; 2.4m → desk lamp on. Bathroom: 6m → night light on; 4m → bathroom light on; 1.6m for 1s → mirror light on. Smart detection, precise presence sensing, flexible installation — all in one!

I got my M605 today, and I didn’t find the onboarding process straightforward.
If you try to onboard it without using the Meross app first you get

After about 30 mins of retrying and mucking about I eventually got it paired but not before rebooting the hub. I had to reboot the hub recently too to get one of my recently acquired IKEA m/t devices onboarded.
Starting to see a pattern here
Theres a fair amount of Configuration on the device via the Bluetooth. The auto setup had all the thresholds wrong for me, so was detecting absence when presence was there. I needed to put the thresholds into single digits for continued presence detection.
Currently only using this in test scenario to check its stability.
