Meross Battery Powered M605 Matter over Thread human presence sensor

Drat, hope it turns up asap

Onboarded to Apple Home and then added to ST. Easy Peezy.

Did you not need to use Meross app first ? Mine didn’t work successfully until I rebooted hub. I’m starting to wonder if I have a rogue device that’s messing things up, maybe the AliExpress m/t contact sensor.

I think I’m going to need to review the thresholds again.
This room was basically occupied the entire evening last night yet reported no motion loads of times. We were in the room sitting on sofa and watching tv mostly so this should be what the presence detection should cope with.

Replace this with an IKEA device.

Yeah, I probably should. I have already purchased the ikea contact sensor, was just testing this out for a bit longer. You’d imagine though that it being a battery powered and sleepy device it wouldn’t have much impact?

I did not add the sensor to the Meross app nor did I need to reboot the ST hub.

Interesting. Will be interested to hear how you get on. Especially with regard to presence/absence sensitivity

I bought 2 of these, and they work so-so with Smartthings, as getting it to add a Matter thread to the iCloud chain. It keeps getting an error, which may be a SmartThings / iOS issue. What is strange is that I added one device on the first tr,y but then all other attempts failed. Now I have two units that I can’t interface.

Did you try after a hub reboot (just a reboot, nothing else) followed by pairing afterwards?

12 days later….
How are you getting on with the sensor?

My experience so far has been that it’s behaving too much like a motion sensor and not enough like a human presence sensor. It’s incorrectly detecting absence from one or more people watching tv.
I think I’m going to have to tweak settings further, to be honest I’ve not tried that much so far, was hoping it worked reliably out of the box, but that’s not been my experience so far.

honestly - I am hating it

Doesn’t sound great, is that accuracy of presence vs absence or other things like connection and stability?

all the above. It seems to be failing in every area. Also, not a fan of the Meross app where you need to be in bluetooth range

It’s the same with the lafaer human presence sensor (needing Bluetooth connection for its app)

Same here.

Has anyone opened a support ticket with Meross, any help received?

Just updated firmware on the sensor via Meross app to 1.1.1.3.2
Dunno if makes any difference in reliability yet.

Update: the revised firmware hasn’t improved things much for me.

I’ve set to find a series of settings for the sensor that doesn’t provide one of the following 3 scenarios

1 constant presence even when there’s no one there
2 constant absence even when there’s someone there
3 frequent false absence detected even when someone’s there

This is how mine is.

It’s pretty useless to me, I’d say my regular motion sensor is actually more reliable at this point. I’m still hoping a further firmware update will improve things, but as things stand it’s basically an ornament

I tried auto configuration before the latest firmware update and decided to give that another lash today but unfortunately it’s still misbehaving. Still recording absence when I’m sitting on sofa within 3 metres direct line of sight, surely this is the scenario it’s supposed to deal with. I’ve put a comment on the Meross forum (accessible from Meross app), but I’m not sure what they’ll suggest.
