Low voltage zwave relay for call indicator light

Hoping someone can help me out here. I have a Plantronics call indicator light that flashes while I’m on a call. The light is small though and easily missed. I’m thinking that I should be able to cut the wire and hook it up to a relay (it’s a low voltage wire - the end on it is a 3.5mm adapter) which is plugged into the wall. Then when a call is active, instead of turning on the indicator light, it will send the signal to the relay and Smartthings can use that to control something else (like a lamp with a colour bulb inside). Any idea on what kind of relay might work for this? Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I would use a light sensor instead. The following device was designed for just this purpose:
