LightwaveRF to add HomeKit integration October 2017, may improve SmartThings integration as well

Yes of course, but the programming capacities of HomeKit are far from being as advanced as ST…
I am waiting for the new TV launch for Apple TV in the U.K. to change mine (still have the v2), so I am not 100% sure of how much automation you can do from HomeKit, but my understanding is “not much”…

You need to have either an iPad or an Apple TV gen four or better for HomeKit automations. At that point you can do simple If This, then that rules. Plus the second level check for who is home and/or time of day.

Works fine for “turn lights on at sunset if I’m home” but not anything much more complicated than that. ( or turn the living room light on when motion is detected at night) Still, it is reliable and easy to set up. :sunglasses:

Is that setup totally separate to ST? Or does it have access to the same devices somehow?

It just depends on the individual device. Some devices, such as the Phillips hue smart bulbs connected via the Hue Bridge and the Logitech Pop Buttons can work with both HomeKit and SmartThings at the same time.

There is an article in the community – created wiki that lists devices that will work with both, but most of those are US devices.

Good news: the second generation lightwave RF devices have been added to their free IFTTT service both as the “if” and as the “that.”

That means you can use IFTTT as the “man in the middle” between lightwave and smartthings.

If someone physically turns on the lightwave RF 2nd generation Switch, you can use that to trigger other events in SmartThings. I think a lot of people would just set up a virtual switch as a proxy so that you can see whether the lightwave RF switch is on or off in your SmartThings app, but that’s up to you. :sunglasses:
