How do i load a custom app in to the ST hub so I can select it in the smart
phone app

I did not need a custom app. The Iris Garage Door Opener is directly supported by SmartThings with the stock device handler. Just click on ‘+ Add a Thing’, activate the door opener and it was discovered. On the front dashboard, I selected it as a favorite so I see both it and my front door as the top first two items under Favorites.

Very simple, very reliable.
