iOS 1.6.39 released (October 31, 2019)

I wish they would write new code for life360 so it worked directly in the new app

I’m on Android, which seems to have the same changes.

Is this the one that finally gets more switchers?

Btw, here’s the compromise for automating STHM disarm. It automatically adds a notification to the automation. Then you can choose to keep the notification or delete it.

And…voiceover navigation is WAY improved! Finally! :sunglasses:

You can now read the setup instructions, add an ecobee thermostat, and create at least some automations (none of which worked previously).

You can’t set the hub location on the map, but that’s a common omission and a onetime action.

It’s obviously never been checked by an accessibility design pro, because every image I came across had as its image description the placeholder ā€œimage description.ā€ :scream: But that doesn’t prevent You from using the app if you know what you’re doing.

The UI design is still wonky. Inconsistent control placement and naming, some issues with pop up navigation.

But…this has gone from an F to a C+. Maybe even a B-. Huge improvement. :sunglasses: :clap:t3:

At least you can use this now, although there may be some associated cursing.

(Imagine being blind and having to slog through the list of supported lighting. This type of list should be alphabetical by brand with navigation jumps to starting letter. Just sayin’…)

But, yes, way better.

I am unclear. What are switchers? Switching from the Classic to the new app?

woohoo! btw, Accessibility was a big focus of the OneUI 2.0 presentation at SDC. But whether that means in their iOS apps or just Android apps/design i’m not sure.

Exactly. A lot of long-time Classic users haven’t made the change. The big one for me is the inability to pin Routine widgets to my home screen. This doesn’t appear to change that exactly, but with Scenes it gets a lot closer.

Nice update. But still way too slow to load and update status to be of any real use to me.

Perfect timing. Groovy was all they’ve talked about at SDC, didn’t they LOL

Just got the update as well. So much better.

Can you explain this a little more.

I use SHM in classic. Are you saying that if you change the mode to Armed in webcore it will Arm it in the new app as well?

No, SHM in Classic and STHM are still two completely separate apps. So changing arm/disarm in one does not change in the other. Also, at this point, webcore can not control STHM in the new app.

But one thing you can do. Locations such as home, evening and night are synced between the two apps. If webcore is changing those, you can create custom automations in the new app that when location changes, you can now change STHM.

Such as

Away changes STHM to armed (away)
Day and evening can change to disarmed (Home)
Night changes to armed (home)

Those are just a few of many ways to sync up the arm/disarm status

You can also create customs automations to change the arm/disarm status based on presence.

gotcha. I will use that as my workaround if we are pushed off the classic train

I really hope that they do address that. I would really want webcore and other 3rd party apps to be able to control the new SHM

I had my wife reinstall the new app on her iPhone xr & delete the classic app. When I look at her phone presence on the old app installed on my galaxy, i see her listed twice. Once as her iPhone XR & then her name. Is anyone seeing this on their iphone.

did you remove her presence sensor that was set up in the classic app? deleting the classic app does not remove the presence sensor that was set up in it. fun fact: the new app uses the user’s name in the presence sensor it uses but you can rename it if you choose. You can remove the presensor sensor in IDE if you want.

No I didn’t remove it. Ok I’ll just remove it from the ide. Thanks. Oh…I see the smart apps section was added, does.this mean we can use the new app to install the custom smart apps & dth?
Thanks
Dom

if it requires the marketplace to set up, I believe the answer is still no. if the marketplace is required, you still need the classic app. once set up, you should be able to use most apps and device handlers that are set up for the new app

Ok thanks.

You can indeed install custom Groovy smart apps now in the new app
