Increase / decrease brightness per click on IKEA Tradfri Dimmer?

Held is not working.

Otherwise the TouchLink method gives a better control and you can still use the left and right buttons for other functions with ABC

It seems, that the classic app is deprecated for good now. So I only have the new app now. What are my options, if ABC keeps crashing in the new app?

@Mikkel_Ramskov_Kjaer, Try to get the latest version of ABC.

Go to his Dev Github and download Dev version, it works. Still has some glitches to be fixed, but it works.

I find it astonishing that adjusting the brightness level by steps is not natively available within ST. I have been using ABC for this. Is there any solution when SmartApps go away?

@Mariano_Colmenarejo implemented this capability in his driver. I believe it should be a part of official drivers.

Does their driver support Tradfri 5 button remote? I donā€™t think I saw it in the list of supported devices

Iā€™m using this driver for tradfri 5

How do you manage brightness/light temperature with this driver?

Hey @veonua. I have an issue with this driver: This remote (like the tradfri shortcut button) consumes unreasonable amount of power when linked with ST hub (from 90% to 30% in less than 24 hrs). Is there anything that can be done or is the battery report inaccurate?

As far as I remember this driver is derived from the official channel, so there should not be any major difference.
But after setting up the groups you can switch back to the driver you used before, and the group setting will be saved.

I see. Iā€™ll just leave it be for now and closely monitor whether the battery status is inaccurate (actually went up just recently). Could you advise on how to manage the 4 buttons to increase/decrease light brightness (tap & hold) and their temperature?

the remote sends these commands to the ZigBee group. You donā€™t have to do anything , itā€™s already programmed. In case you want to control non-Zigbee devices you need to create routines in the ST app.

I think Iā€™m missing something here: These are the only available options I have for light controls

The dimmer/temperature option only allows me to fix the brightness/color to a fixed value upon clicking/holding a button. Thereā€™s no readily available option to continuously increase brightness/temperature.

This is under the assumption that all devices are Zigbee-based

It seems that you are cucurrently using the default ST driver, which unfortunately does not allow you to adjust the brightness in step. You have a few options to consider:

  • Use Touch Link to link the remote to the lightbulb.
  • Use Mariano_Colmenarejo driver to manually set the group in device settings.
  • Utilize the feature in Marianoā€™s driver to adjust the brightness.

Iā€™m starting to understand now. Youā€™re referring the the driver for the bulb (which should use the ā€œZigbee Light Multifunction Mcā€ driver). But since Iā€™m using BlueYetiā€™s driver to bring over devices from my Hue Bridge (locally), Iā€™m unable to switch to Marianoā€™s driver.

Will try directly pairing a bulb to ST hub later to explore new possibilities

Maybe my driver is solution for you

Iā€™m a bit confused as to what I should do after setting up the dimmer routine + switching to @mocelet 's driver. I canā€™t seem to find Smart Lighting switch sync

My driver isnā€™t really needed, any smart button will do.

If you donā€™t have the Smart Lighting thing in the routines section youā€™ll have to use the Rules API following the examples in the post.

Edit: I believe you have to first enable it in the routines tab tapping the ā€œdiscoverā€ icon on top and scrolling down to the Smart Lighting app. At least thatā€™s where it is on Android. But apparently in some countries the Smart Lighting is not available, so check it first.
