I have an Ikea Tradfri 10 W line driver. It has no button , AC in and 3 mini plug output to drive up to 3 of the Ikea light strips. It is new and been sitting around as I can’t seem to get it to work with my Philips Hue hub and I didn’t purchase a hub from Ikea yet. In any case, it seem I was about to pair the Tradfri 10W driver into ST, but when I click on the on/off, nothing happen. I try all three of the mini plug without success. It is required that I must used the tradfri through an ikea hub and back into ST? Am I missing something? This is what data I was able to get out of its so far
The following video will show you exactly how to add it to a hue bridge:
You cannot use the IKEA Gateway with smartthings: IKEA does not have an open API.
Instead, if you connect this device to a Hue bridge, it will then look like a Hue light to smartthings and you can control it that way.
I would think you should also be able to connect it directly to a smartthings hub, but I don’t know if it needs custom code or if anyone has done that yet.
Also, in the future try searching the forum first and that way you can talk to people who are actually using the device with smartthings and see what issues they may have run into and what tips they may have. For this particular device, there are several threads, including the following:
Sorry, I was a dumb a__ ST did work run out of the gate for the Ikea Tradfri 10 W I would like to report. All I have to do was literally push the reset button. I forgot there was also an on/off switch on the light bar ;( However, I will re-test this again going through a Philip hub to see if there are any differences. I gap I did notice is that its power on all port (3 of them), not sure if it is possible to pick which ports you want to enable. More to come
Turns out there is no way to control each individual port on the Ikea Tradfri, it is all or nothing. Wishful thinking but I am ok with its. However, is it possible to do firmware flashing on the device from ST?
I have a bookcase with IKEA LED spotlights that are connected to an old driver and controlled by a switch on the power cord. Yesterday I decided to replace the driver with tradfri 10W in order to connect the spotlights to my ST v3 hub. The driver quickly connected to the ST, but it cannot be controlled through the application, it does not respond to any commands and writes “This device hasn’t updated all of its status information yet. Check again later.”. After some time, the application shows that the driver is going offline. I tried using the driver from Mariano, but the device also does not respond to commands. Diagnostics in the application reports that the device is not responding to the hub request. I also removed the device and paired it three times, but each time the picture is the same. At the same time, in the same room I haveanother cabinet, the soffits on which have been connected through a similar tradfri driver for three years, added to ST and working correctly. What could be the reason? Perhaps the driver is defective and the zigbee module is not fixed in it, but in this case it is not clear why the addition to ST is successful.
I will be glad for any help.
Upd.
So, the problem was solved by restarting the hub and removing, resetting and connecting the driver again. After all this, the driver was successfully added to ST, responds to hub requests and works successfully. I’ve already begun to forget how capricious IKEA devices can be when integrated with ST.
