When the new SmartThings edge driver architecture first came out, we could just switch from one driver to another in the SmartThings app.
After some platform changes, though, the current situation is that if you have a battery powered device, particularly a Zigbee device, just changing from one driver to another in the app often does not correctly set the configuration values.
Instead, you have to put the new driver on your hub, then delete the device from your account, then re-add it to your account so it picks up the new driver. This will make sure that everything gets configured correctly.
So I just mention that because a lot of the older instructions don’t cover that issue.
I know it’s really annoying because it means you also have to re-create any routines you had using that device, but it does seem to be the best way to get everything working.
Ok I did some more tests and followed JDRoberts advice. Without luck though.
But I noticed this:
Zigbee Button Remote Driver [YG] 1.3.8 reports
RRSI -58dBm
Power 25,5V (strange since it is running on two AAA-batteries)
LQI 255
Pressing buttons nothing is shown in the history
Ikea Styrbar Remote 2022-01-18T14:57:05.219815 reports:
button 4 button Pressed
button 3 button Pressed
button 2 button Pressed
button 1 button Pressed
main button Pressed
This is interersting since I was sure not to press any buttons during pairing (besides the pairing button under the unit).
Pressing buttons after this is not shown in the history either.
I’ve edited the post so it’s more speed-reading friendly and reduced the text to arrive to the actual driver. I’m sure you’re not the first that were misled and installed the non-working ones. Thanks for the feedback!
Hope the driver is working for you!
Edit: BTW, that callaway link will not work for other people, the correct link to install it is the one on the post.
Edge driver channels have multiple links. (I don’t know why—it definitely creates confusion.)
If it has “Callaway” in the URL, it will only work for people who have already subscribed to that channel. Other people trying to follow the link will get a “403“ permissions error.
So if you want to share a link in a forum post, instead use the “invitation“ or “welcome“ link that you yourself used when you first joined the channel.
These will have “invite” in the URL.
You can typically find the invitation link in the first post of the author’s thread in this forum, or maybe at GitHub.
In this specific case, the link that will work for other people is this one:
