So my pond is being targeted by a heron.
I’ve had the idea of a water jet or something to shoot at it but not sure where to start.
Have found battery powered ones, but thinking I need a mains one that I can control being on or off, so the automation of when I’m not at home turns it on preventing me from getting soaked! Anyone else done anything like this?
You basically only need this…
… and this:
Haha that’s a little ott And I don’t want to spook any other birds.
Seen someone do this https://photos.app.goo.gl/bCWWQQZ9fkiD3yPv5
So just need find a hard wired sprinkler system.
One component should be an outdoor camera with KI pet detection and activity zones.
Plus a sprinkler with an integrated pump that can be connected to an outdoor power outlet.
Tapo camera + Kasa KP400 + sprinkler
I went the low tech route and purchased one of those floating alligator heads LOL
It worked! Now it just a floating chia alligator head covered in moss.
Tried a floating big silver ball with an eye, didn’t give 2 ticks lol
That’s neat, I have ring cameras and was thinking I’d get the notifications and just turn on manually. But this works.
I’ve heard mixed stories about them actually encouraging Herons to come to the pond; How true I’m not sure, not like we can ask them.
