Hi guys
I have problems connecting my SmartTag to my android devices
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro with a custom ROM (Pixel Experience) and, when I try to connect my device to the SmartTag, the app says I need at leastt android 9 while I have Android 13. (error code 00-002)
I tried to connect the SmartTag to an old S8 (dreamlte) i had but it says the app is not supported by the device, neither from the Play Store and Galaxy Store.
The S8 has stock Os, so I don’t think it’s something related to the phone being modded (?)
Then I tried to install the app from an apk online but, when it’s about to connect it says that device is not supported (error code 00-003)
Then I tried to install an even older version, when it seems to connect, it gets stuck in the connection mode and after a while the SmartTag powers off.
I also tried to Wipe Cache partition in both phones but nothing seems to have worked
Can somebody please help me find a solution either for my Redmi or the S8 ?
I don’t know if this helps, but my experience with the SmartTags, any of them, was that I always had to start with a very fresh battery to connect. Once connected, they worked as advertised.
Is the battery included with the tag valid or do I have to get another one ?
Because the battery is fresh new, I got the tag yesterday and I’ve been trying since this morning
The SmartTags can only be commissioned using Galaxy phones, and you don’t really get any significant functionality without one. You also need to use the SmartThings app which is now only supported on Android 10 or above.
