Hello!
I have a light switch installed in my garage and cannot get it to work from Smartthings. Here is what I have done:
Installed switch in the garage, no love - too far away from the hub, I assumed.
Put one of these in the garage: https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/205957620-Samsung-SmartThings-Outlet - it was already registered with my ST hub and it works all day long - I can turn it on and off from my app. Is this a repeater like the Iris one? I can’t find confirmation. If so, how do you turn it on? It’s literally 2 feet from the light switch and the switch still won’t add to ST.
(Multiple Z Wave network repairs…)
Brought switch into the house, wired it in to where a light switch was, added it to ST without issues, named it “garage”, then took it back to the garage and installed it. Now it is in the app, but won’t turn on / off the light. The SmartThings Power Outlet still works all day long.
Multiple more Z Wave network repairs… now I get the message that can’t find route to garage (or similar).

OH… wait. Just did some brief (more) reading. So the socket is a ZIGBEE repeater and the switch is a Z Wave device. Perhaps I should try the Iris plug which appears to be both?

The iris plug is supposed to do both, but many community members have reported that it works just fine for zigbee but the zwave repeating is flaky.
Pretty much any mains-powered Z wave device can repeat for Zwave, so you can get any Z Wave pocket socket. If you get one that is zwave plus, it will have a longer range than classic Z Wave so that might be a good choice.

Still no love! I have about 100 feet between the closest corner of the house and the garage - maybe 120. I have a Z-Wave light switch in the garage and have tried not one, but two, of the Iris 3210-L plugs - one on each end. Both are configured using the setup described in the forums - seeing the plug as a Z-Wave Device and then changing the type to Z-Wave Relay. I have tried multiple network repairs and still no love. From the repair I get:

I don’t have an option to put a wired device anywhere in between. I have a small outside “garden closet” on the corner of the house closet to the garage and have a power strip plugged into a light socket power outlet and have the Iris plug plugged into that, and the other about 2 feet from the light switch.
Can anyone suggest a solution - listing specific products - that would help me bridge the gap between my house and garage? (Or help with what I might be doing wrong?)

The range is just too far, particularly with exterior walls in between.
