How to know Local App vs. Cloud App in Hub 2.0?

That is a good point. I know if I rebuild my devices from the hub out to the further reaches of my home, my performance will likely improve. I have 2 lights on my garage that do not fire consistently because of the distance. I’ll jump on to the new hub when convenient.

Does anyone have a “Dimmer Switch” device running locally?

I initially installed all my dimmers on the new hub with a custom device type, so naturally they didn’t run locally. But, once I realized this (plus the fact that the benefits of the custom dimmer device type are not “worth it” compared to getting the automations local) I decided to try to get them all local. All of my plain zwave switches are local, as well as a few other things.

Merely flipping the device type in the IDE didn’t cause them to become local, but I think that’s expected. However, I just removed and reinstalled one from scratch, making sure it was the supported “Dimmer Switch” type from the outset – but it’s still not local.

Something I’m missing? Or maybe these just don’t go local yet? (Which would surprise me given that some other more exotic supported devices do run locally, like the Fortezz siren and the Aeon Minimote).

It’s funny, all my Dimmer Switches are running locally, whereas my On/Off Switches (GE) are not.

I have both GE Dimmer and 2gig Dimmer switches showing up locally. Atleast 10 of them. The GE Fan Control switches are also showing up locally.

**EDIT
I now have all my switches working. My issue with the GE Switches was that I had a custom device type, initially when I removed all the switches and then deleted the device type, the switches still wouldn’t be local when I re-added them. But after leaving them removed for 3-4 days, I have now been able to re-add them all and they show up and work as local.

Hi all,
I’m just a bit confused about locally running apps.
From reading numerous threads on this forum it would appear that Smart lights is the only app that will run locally on the V2 hub. (I’m based in the UK BTW).
I have set up some rules to run using ‘Smart Lights’ and when I look at https://graph-eu01-euwest1.api.smartthings.com/localInstalledSmartApp/list I cannot see any rules running.
Am I doing something wrong? Perhaps the link I am using is wrong.
Looking at other threads people seem to be able to print this list out successfully.
I can see a local device BTW in https://graph-eu01-euwest1.api.smartthings.com/localDevice/list
Any guidance much appreciated.
Thanks.

The Smart Lighting children also need to be using ONLY devices that are on the local device list before they’ll run locally. If they are using only local devices and still don’t show up as local SmartApps, I’d recommend contacting support.

Smart Home Monitor also joined into the local device execution fun late last year. Same rules apply for SHM as Smart Lighting. The SHM children also need to be using ONLY devices that are on the local device list before they’ll run locally.

If the smartlights app is indeed the only local app right now, then maybe a few feature extensions can solve a lot of other forum-questions. Like blinking with color, times and freq with a return to the original state triggered by motion or sth else. This way a home can be self monitoring and signalling presence in and around it with no latency and without being dependent to internet. I am deaf and this would solve lots lots lots of security and privacy probs for me. IFTTT is too limited (can only blink 15 times, i need more options to know what is going on) and a “flasher” smartapp in the cloud drowns in latency probs. Please Samsung, with high priority !!!

Are there equivalent pages to show which smart apps are NOT running local and which devices are NOT running local?

Thanks

Not that I’ve seen. If they aren’t on the local list, that means they’re in the cloud.
