That’s how the MyQ Lite SmartApp was created. By adding an additional contact or acceleration sensor, this allows it to tie back in to the garage door to know if it’s open or closed within ST. I think some of this was done because Chamberlain shut down their API with SmartThings because I guess we overwhelmed their Network and brought it to it’s knees or something to that extent. Looking at it in hindsight, it’s because Chamberlain wanted to make money charging a subscription fee
