Since Smart Lighting appears to no longer be accessible for new entries, is there a way to use Routines to have an event occur more than 60 minutes after sunset? That 60-minute limit in Routines was not a limit in Smart Lighting.
The way I’ve done it is by adding a virtual switch and add 2 routines, one to turn the switch on at sunset and another if the virtual switches is on then turn what ever other device on with a delay of X, X can be set from 1 hour to 24 hours.
That’s just an example of the method i use, there maybe a better or easier method.
I use a lot of virtual switches within my routines.
@Ace2’s workaround solves your issue but I’m puzzled by what you mean. The old SmartApp called “Smart Lighting” died with the Groovy platform but we now have “Smart lighting” (lower case “l”) in the ST App which allows events to be triggered more than 60 minutes after sunset.
I’m not sure if that’s what’s going on here, but there are a few community members who had the old Smart Lighting and found they were region locked out of the new Smart lighting. Not sure why that happened, there’s never been any official announcement about it.
In some cases, if the community members were in Nordic countries, they were able to get support to authorize the new Smart lighting for them.
In other cases, support just told them it was not available in their country.
In theory, yes. In practice a number of people are having issues with the new Smart lighting not reliably tracking sunset/sunrise times as they slowly change. There is a form thread about it if you care to search.
How frustrating that must be for those in affected countries. No region blocking on this here in the UK thankfully.
Thank you all very much for your valuable help. Interestingly, someone from Support must have seen my post because, as of this morning, “Smart lighting” replaced “Smart Lighting” on my ST app. I was able to set up and save my schedules. Now, let’s hope they work!
