Hive Motion & Contact Sensors

Ok, so tried the contact sensors ( i have 2) neither worked with the Hive device handler above , just showed open all the time

So I tried one with the same device hander as the Samsung ones Smartsense Multi Sensor and that worked fine and is still working.

So I thought I had cracked it and installed the second one the same way //but nope this one just would not work and again just showed open all the time.

So given up and packed Hive Sensors back in box… Wouldn’t be so bad if Hive app scheduled and actions worked better as I could still use them … but they are awful so I dont think I can see a use for them… I am hopeful somebody might write a device handler that works… Please !!

Hi did you get sorted sorry i didnt reply ive been busy recently and i havent been on here for a while

Tried these last night - couldn’t get it to work, could this be a firmware issue?

I’m also having problems with a motion sensor, permanently reporting motion. I think it will be getting returned.

Having dug a bit deeper it seems i have a different model of sensor from the one these DHs are intended for - mine is reporting:

model: MOT003
application: 01
manufacturer: HiveHome.com
endpointId: 06

whereas the DH says:

manufacturer: “AlertMe.com”,
model: “PIR00140005”,

So i’m guessing this device handler is no good for this model of Hive sensor - i’m currently getting temperature reported but not battery, and motion is permanently active. I get the same result with the SmartSense Motion Sensor device type. I then changed to a simulated motion sensor device type, triggered and then cancelled motion and switched back to SmartSense Device type and then this DH - both now report temperature, no battery info and no motion. (I can’t test if it will change when it actually detects motion yet as it’s at home and i’m at work)

Where on earth do i start trying to work this out?

At some point yesterday, without me touching it, my motion sensor put itself into pairing mode. searching for new devices didn’t find a new device but it did get a green light on the sensor. Now i have a green light flash on the sensor when it picks up motion but nothing else.

live logging is giving me this:

roughly every 10 seconds. Can someone please vaguely explain what this means?

A final post on this from me, I did eventually, with a lot of messing about, manage to get my Hive sensor to report motion, however it would never report motion had stopped, and had to be manually switched to no motion (by switching to virtual motion sensor device type) - switching back to the Hive DH would then detect motion again but again would never report motion stopped. This could probably be fixed with a timer built into the DH that automatically switched to a no motion state after a set time (if such a thing is possible) but I’ve given up and returned the sensor.

this is probably no help to anyone but i thought i’d put it up just in case.

Thank you very much for the tip on using the Orvibo Motion Sensir Device Handler with the Hive Motion Sensor.

It works fine, reporting battery at 100%.

I set the motion timeout to 30 seconds as suggested and that gives good results.

The only thing lacking is temperature reporting, but that isn’t a necessity.

Note: I tried the Hive Motion Sensor DH at the top of this thread, but it does not report motion at all with my Hive sensor, however it does report temperature and battery.

So, my recommendation is to use the Orvibo DH

Did you sort this? I’m having the same issue.

This is amazing! Thank you so much. Got all my bulbs and sensors on ST and have the extra functionality of having bulbs come on at specified warmth and brightness.

Do you have anything for the heating and plugs?

Hi Simon, is there a possibility you could add the timeout that the Orvibo Motion Sensor DH is using please? From what i can see is this, Iam using the latest motion sensor and when it comes on with motion, it also needs motion to turn it off again, not only that, you have to wait for the 30 seconds polling, then move, then it will set the motion to inactive, its very weird to say the least, the Orvibo Motion Sensor DH works very well, but sadly its missing the temp and thats quite important me, your hopefully

I have been successful in getting the hive door contact enabled in the app, and it appears to be working, however over the last couple of days it does to appear to have just randomly stopped working from time to time, I then need to re-add it.

I also note that the temperature and battery levels are not showing, does anyone have a fix for any of this yet?
