Hello I have been reading about smartapps on the community but do not know where to start using them etc. Any guide for beginners? Also how is this different from Scene and Automations Thanks

I would start here: How to Get Started Creating Complex Rules in SmartThings (2017) (SmartThings Classic) The Webcore smartapp and the Smartthings community is the best reason to own a Smartthings hub (vs. Alexa or Google Home “hub”). Rules can be simple or complex and you can learn as you go.
