Having a hard time justifying the cost of Philips Hue setup

There are a few discussions in the forums about the uses of colored bulbs. I’ll see if I can find one of those links for you. But the short answer is that in most places you could probably get by with the $15 white bulbs. (It’s the same bridge.)

The main reason for using colored bulbs are either just for fun effects, or for notifications. So whether you need them at all is just up to you.

Use cases for color smart bulbs?

I recently bought some LIFX 1000 color smart bulbs. They’re bright, they’re beautiful, they make my toddler giggle. But what should I actually do with them? What are your uses for colored smart bulbs? Is there any meaningful case that couldn’t be satisfied with a smart switch and dumb bulb? And has anyone found a way to control the colors with a physical wall switch of some kind?
